Don’t mind the new way, especially having seen it used in other club forums. I think it would make a difference when the complaints about the new way subside alongside those being deliberately disruptive because they don’t like the new way, then making for actual transfer talk.

It was rubbish before, it's rubbish now and whatever it changes to will be rubbish. DATM is the perfect metaphor for all things connected with HTAFC

Personally I’d prefer there to be no sub boards at all, just one board where every topic, football or not, is there. The best threads will always rise to the top. Posters need to police the forum better themselves, admins should only need to make sure strong lines aren’t crossed. There’s too many sub boards now, good topics and good discussions get lost.

One transfer thread is a superb idea, first class even, until the thread gets hijacked by financial matters and chairman haters. That, for me, is where the problem lies. Post after post of guesswork, assumptions and downright lies. Cure that little problem and everything will work like a charm

I liked the separate player threads. Those players I quickly became disinterested in (Willock, Welbeck to name 2) I didn't have to read about, so it certainly works for me. But we always had them and we still do... We have a thread for all our players. I get what you've tried to do and it will work really well for teams like Chelsea where they have hundreds of players linked and thousands of fans creating posts but we don't have hardly any transfer gossip outside of the windows. Can we not just have a transfer gossip thread stickied at the top, when a player is linked they can have their own thread, if it's popular it stays if not it drifts away... If they sign then it becomes their permanent thread and it acts as their history file from joining to leaving. If they sign elsewhere then the title can be amended and it will drift away or alternatively the admins can anchor it Just a suggestion?

Ever heard the expression “keep it simple stupid?
The reason multiple threads is a pain in the behind is you have to check multiple threads. Unfortunately most of it is bullshit anyway. So personally I find it easier to skim one bullshit thread as opposed to several.
If people would only start dedicated threads when something is confirmed it would help but the main issue is people having silly arguments in every thread. No matter how you organize it that will still happen.
I do like the “official confirmed” thread. Think that was one of the best ideas anyone ever had.
At the end of the day though it’s a forum. Won’t be losing any sleep over it.

And the issue is that those discussions are often a bit of a runaway train - too many posts too quickly to remove/cleanse the thread - we'll always miss one or miss one that's been quoted and it then makes the thread hard to follow, so it quickly goes past the point of no return.

Why do we need a transfer thread at all? I despise speculation and am happy to wait for the club to tell me who we’ve bought and sold. A quick backup on the bbc football transfers tells me about former players moving on. I need no more.

I don't know the ins-and-outs of Proboards, but is it possible to set up filters to automatically move - or better still, delete posts that contain specific words? I'll start. "Amortisation" Get in the bin (tedious financial thread)

Maybe a separate thread on every single registered, professional footballer throughout the world is the answer? That way, we can comment on each individually to please those who struggle to keep up.

I say keep the sub board, with the threads for the relevant players
That way, you don't need to doddle your way through 12 pages of bad and overused puns on player B, when you want to read about player A.
