Not ready to say goodbye to the beautiful bastard yet, please stay Agree... .....but so long as you're prepared to take a f*****g severe cut in your wages. ....but I'd still have him ahead of Stearman, Elphick and Keogh ...... ...and TBF we probably need an experienced head to bring on the youngsters.

I don't think it's actually our choice anyway, no matter how much we offer him he's wanted to go back to Germany for quite a while now so this is the perfect chance for him. Massive shame we couldn't give him a big send off though.

Think the German league starts a week after ours normally, so it would be brilliant if whoever his new club is allowed him to travel over for a pre match send off if we're at home first game. He certainly deserves one for what he did for this club.

Was kind of hoping the club might have given us some clarity and indication when he would be leaving, could have given him the guard of honor down Leeds Road.
Wishful thinking in these times and with this owner I guess.

Assuming he is returning to Germany this summer, we’ll have to make do with him doing a half-time draw once he’s retired. Proper shame for a real modern day club legend.

Where is it confirmed he said he wants to go back to Germany (and therefore how much we offer is irrelevant)? He probably will go back to Germany but perhaps we're still negotiating with him and that's why nothing has been said about him.
Not sure why everybody seems to want to find something to have a go at the club about based on what seems to be Chinese whispers and hearsay.

Tbf, that's still not evidence to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he would rather go back than stay here but its all just opinions until something official. Its not as annoying as everybody 'knowing' that PH is buying the club with parachute payments. I've never said its not true but I've asked for a link or ANY evidence... suddenly the posters discussing that 'absolute fact' have nothing to say on such threads. Call me crazy but I like to see actual evidence of things before accepting it as fact.

I doubt when he goes back to Germany he's going to say "I've been wanting to leave England for about a year now so I'm glad me and my family have been able to finally return home" so I guess you'll never know.

A true professional and a credit to himself and his family.
He'll be remembered for a very long time.
Whatever happens I wish him all the best and thank him for everything he did and tried to do for our club.

At his best a Rolls Royce of a Centre Half and an absolute professional.
Pure German efficiency.

Whatever is or isn't happening any story can be twisted into an excuse to slag the club off. Schindlers a legend just for that penalty at Wembley never mind captaining the side to promotion and staying up. But I think its the right time for him to go. He'll be a very big earner and unless he'd be happy to take a whacking great pay cut I can't see him justifying it. He was 2nd best to Stearman under the Cowleys after xmas last season and would be behind Sarr now too and Still think that when REG gets back to playing centre half we will see a very good player come through. He's gone backwards having to play full back.

RR and German efficiency 🤔 Think you are getting your metaphors mixed up 😉 Rolls-Royce Motors has been a subsidiary of BMW and/or VW since 1998, so might as well be German at this point. Anyway, Schindy will be missed. An outstanding centre back in his prime, a model professional, an inspirational captain and a proper club legend.

I’ve had a bit to do with RR engines over the years… good luck to BMW in making RR efficient 🤣 Edit: by mersyside’s guide, it’s taken 23 years and they still have a way to go.

Not seen that anywhere never mind by loads of people you've just made that up. Thought it was the end of last season and we asked him to stay another year. It's nothing against the club either, he wants to go and we could probably do with him off the wage bill, everyone is happy. The only sad thing is we couldn't have a send off.

Well I heard people saying it (still based on nothing) in the relegation season so that's more than 2 years ago. Re: the bold, Jesus Christ I'm 'making things up' cos I don't take everything I hear as gospel, especially when I have seen no credible evidence for it. My issue was only with the amount of stick the club is getting, with fans seeming to want to slag Town off for anything and everything and then claiming X, Y or Z with no foundations for it. If anybody is not making things up, its me. Lets just draw a line under this. Schindler has been a Town great but all good things come to an end. His wages would be too high for how his ability has diminished. Drew Peacock thank you for informing me where it actually came from, I haven't heard that q and a or I missed that part.

As I understand it, we have an option to extend his contract. With that in mind, we should extend his contract & if Schindler wants to go then he can.... and the fee is an agreement that the club he joins agree to travel over for a preseason friendly & he plays a half for each side. Bring in Hef, Lowe et al too, but the day should belong to CS.
I've spoken about "those players who did a good job but they're not the ones you'd tell your grandkids about". Schindler is not just one of those that you would tell your grandkids about. He's the first one on the list.

The best club captain I’ve seen at Town would be Peter Clarke, a good player although not the best but attitude and leadership was second to non, Schindler is also up there and his reason for taking that penalty, the club paid a lot of money for me, I had to repay that faith, is what all fans of all clubs want from their hero’s, the likes of Kongolo aren’t fit to lace the boots of Peter Clarke or Christopher Schindler.
