The first couple of pages of this thread make interesting reading. The usual suspects spouting crap . And it seems Singapore Terrier has sent his "clean up guys" in to delete all his posts.
Fwiw re the loan discussion. I think there is a time and a place for young players to go to other clubs to get that "man football" experience . But would it have been right to pack thomas off straight away for man football, him just having come from that. CC and his team have taken time to get Thomas up to speed. From the first highlights reel it's clear that he has made spectacular strides in less than a year . Would that have happened if we had airlifted him straight out to the hod carriers up the M606 ? I very much doubt it personally. Well done town and hopefully the usual suspects might hang fire in the future before posting crap

In situations like this its far better to integrate the player into the highest possible professional standards and the ethos of the club rather than shipping them off; even if that means them playing B team for a year. Loans are more beneficial to the kids who need to get out of their comfort zone (the club/youth football) to help build character, strength etc. Somone like thomas who has come up the hard way has obviously been handled perfectly

And that's the thing isn't it, people talking about loans for a player that has proved a gem. Sometimes you just have to take a gamble. I watched Frankie play probably less than a dozen games in 68-69 when we had a poor season, and good league cup run, you'd never have guessed what he'd be like in 69-70. ( not sure on season for league cup, just feels like year before we got good again.)

I would suggest that how well Sorba Thomas is playing suggests he's been handled perfectly. Perhaps if Ryan Schofield had been used more sparingly last season he wouldn't be so lacking in confidence now & could be built up accordingly.
WRT loaning players out - if they're promising youngsters that need an experience of men's football, then that is a good move - but he already had that. Keeping him here for training gave him the experience he needed (the level of professionalism playing at a higher level). There was potentially an argument for loaning him out to a level somewhere between National League & Championship as we did with Josh Koroma, building him up in stages. A loan to (e.g.) Harrogate wouldn't necessarily have been a disaster, but his progress here has been quicker than I expect it would have been had the rumoured loan gone ahead.
