Not really. A quick look on transfermarkt comes up with:
Calvin Andrew
Ishmael Miller (another homecoming?)
Craig Davies
Chris O'Grady
Dominic Poleon
Simeon Jackson
Paul Taylor
Anthony Stokes
Presumably anyone like Oumar Niasse would no longer qualify for a work permit in this day and age, and any foreign players who would (Diego Costa for example) probably wouldn't be interested in us. There's also Daniel Sturridge who would fall into the category.

Those names suggest not just scraping the barrel but the floor underneath it.
Lafferty would be the only reasonable choice from the list, just as a plan B target man.

It’s all immaterial anyway.
The club obviously feel that we don’t need a goal scorer.

Left field option but MLS is very likely going to enter a lockout tomorrow. It is an open question from fifa whether all players will be considered free agents after the league stops paying them. Striker is the one position where MLS is extremely deep with talent.

Glad we told Walsall to do one ... nearly three weeks later, still not won, facing a crisis as it’s dawned on the board that people won’t buy season tickets given the current ambition levels and now we’re desperately trawling free agents who will need a further two weeks before they can even join training, then further time to gain match fitness.
What next trials at canalside for the best local footballers!
