I think the window has been OK. Depends what our ambitions are I guess. I think the recent run of form has been a blessing for the board. I still worry that we don’t seem to have any money available to spend on a permanent signing or 2.

The rumoured bid of £2 million we put in for the west ham kid would suggest otherwise and that it's there in the pot for January...

I still worry that we don’t seem to have any money available to spend on a permanent signing or 2. I think there is potentially a bit of money available for transfer fees. The difficulty is trying to fit them into an already tight wage structure which needs to be leaner still from next season.

Last time out I remember rumours of a 1 m bid for Jackson at Ipswich. I’m not massively disgruntled just getting a wee bit sceptical.

Would be happy to see mbenza , brown , Jackson and Aaron’s leave as I don’t see them getting a game for the first team

In fairness, I'd much rather we'd save our money for January and our late play off push.

If its fallen through there's a possibility it's one whose going elsewhere so maybe worth watching to see who goes and then process of elimination. If they're deciding not to send them out on loan then ignore the above! I was only thinking the same.. used to be Swansea but last one was Luton so could by anyones guess. Crewe? Grimsby? Fingers crossed we have other irons in the fire but Maynard didn't sound too positive. C'mon Town 5hrs to go and still think we need an alternative in midfield, even if on a similar deal to Odubeko, with a recall in place.

Loan signing we had has fallen through. Nothing else expected in now That's disappointing to be honest. If we felt the need to bring someone else in then it must have been for a reason. I get these things happen though

Andy Carroll in talks with Reading now! Transfer embargo my arse Acknowledging I don't know the terms, but who they are signing sounds ridiculous in the circumstance. The limitations are that they can only pay any new player a maximum of £8.5k a week and that they cannot pay a fee for anyone and EFL have to give green light to any deal. They have two on loan from Chelsea who, between them, earn approx £120k per week. Reading are only paying £17k of that max.

Think we’d all have liked to see more quality brought in but I guess current form on the pitch takes the pressure off the board and Phil for now. Retaining O’Brien, Toffolo and Koroma will be seen as a big plus. Phil’s bums on seats signings never happened but hopefully given the huge reduction in wage bill over the summer, there’s plenty of scope to sign any needed reinforcements to push us up the table come January. I would find it hard to believe our budget is anywhere near mid table as Phil referred to. Must be nearer the bottom when you look around what we have compared to others in the division. But it’s not how big it is, it’s what you do with it and you have to worry about what the likes of Reading are doing with Drinkwater and Carrol - two massive earners/egos might not be the best for team harmony in that camp right now. Early signs are that summer recruitment has indeed improved us - so credit to that team when working with such a small budget and the dubious signings of ex players aside. Credit must also go to them for the finds of Sorba and Koroma - I hope we’ll see a few more of those. I guess Danny Grant is a possible one. For that reason I still do think for our desired model of self funding to work in the future we will need to see more investment in BUYING developing talent upon which we can build future resale value. (E.g Dion Sanderson).

Will be interesting to see any loan players moving from the prem to the championship in the next couple of hours to see who we potentially missed out on!
Happy with the summer business overall. Delighted to keep O’Brien who I feel we will get more money for in January/next summer if he keeps up his good start.

Oh well. A central midfielder with some creativity would have been nice but the squad is in decent shape at the moment. Be nice if we can get rid of Mbenza and have some funds to spend in January. If we keep O'Brien that's better than we expected. But we still won't have any creativity in central midfield

Massive shame we haven’t brought in a CAM really are lacking in quality in that area. Also another RB wouldn’t of gone a miss. All seem to think it’s been a good window but a couple of defeats and the fans will be on PH back.
Hopefully we have enough until January

Shame Mbenza the leech doesn't want to go. We should have known extending his contract would lead to him continuing to sit on his arse collecting £64,000 a month. Why would he have incentive to leave when he knows no one else will pay him as handsomely as we have? What do I mean? Well... On rough calculations...
£11.25m transfer fee £16,000/week £13,750,000 total expenditure 6150 minutes played £2,250/minute played
6 goals, 9 assists = £900,000 per goal or assist we've paid Or, from Isaacs cushty perpective, he's earnt £55k per goal or assist. Nice.

Nice. At least the man who sanctioned the move and signed off the deal hasn’t lost out though, it’s absolutely mental isn’t it; actually mental isn’t the right word, it should be ‘criminal’.
