Going somewhere like Young Boys sounds like a much better job for him. Champions last season, so in the Champions League qualifying rounds. He'd get a tilt at that or the Europa League, be in a league where it's a bit less cut throat but still a respectable standard, chance to win some titles. And no fans writing him off before he even starts. And living in Switzerland rather than the West Midlands. Hmmmm tough choice think it over David

He still needs to establish himself to some extent, he didn't pull up any trees at Schalke (though it wasnt an easy gig with their setup) so somewhere with a better chance of winning something (not convinced WBA are a shoe-in for a return to prem yet) is probably a better move.

How the fuck does that work, then? "Hey David, we'd love you to be our next manager" "And I'm looking forward to starting" "Just starting?" "I guess" "David, how hungry are you for promotion...?" "Meh. Not starving" Says to me the fans comments have influenced the decision.

I bet you never thought you’d hear yourself saying “I have recently got into watching Young Boys on the tv” I only googled "young boys Bern" once and have a an email from Daniel 11 years old, who likes sweets, puppies, milkshakes and rap and wants to meet at the Bus station tonight. Well fuck off Daniel, am not into milkshakes and cant stand rap.

Good luck to both him and Bühler, they've landed a good job there. I was expecting his next job to be a Town-esque one, taking over a team without expectations so he can build some momentum again. Looks like they pissed their league last year (31 points ahead of Basel!), so will anything other that another title be deemed a failure? Hope this isn't another Schalke situation where they'll expect too much.

Hope this isn't another Schalke situation where they'll expect too much. He was hung out to dry at Schalke, a club with massive debts and any player of note being sold or loaned out. DW had nothing to work with. I think YB will expect to win it again next season but with crowds back in I reckon it will be a closer run thing - as will every other league

Think Wagner would have been close to signing with YB but probably got his manager to push the Wagner to WBA story. Day later he’s signed with YB. Wagner, master manipulator at getting a new contract.

Brilliant news.
I’d really have found it hard to take if he was in charge of WBA.
Hopefully, he’ll be back here at some stage later!

Feel better that he won't be managing against us, at least just yet. Best wishes to him & his new club.

I really like having a thread about how and what DW is currently doing but my god, I feel so sad and upset that it has to be in one that has the words 'Wagner and 'villain' in the bloody title. Those are two words that I cannot believe anyone could ever contemplate could or should be together.

What are denying as fact in this post by shortbreadpete? "He totally lost it and has never recovered. Loved him but the effort drained him, was disappointed he bottled it, but he was shot and so even if he had stayed the extraordinary had become ordinary. Cant see him ever achieving such heights again, but great memories for sure. His line when asked when he would join a big club 'but Huddersfield are a top club' was priceless and his 'no limits' was a breath of very fresh air.Why he signed such dross in that second year will forever haunt us both." None of that is a fact, it's all opinion/ subjective. Even saying 'he signed' isn't necessarily a fact- was he definitely primarily responsible for all those signings? He may have been for some or all, but we've heard varying accounts. Your assertion that it is opinion & subjective lacks credibility! Put up quotes from reliable sources, i.e. within the club, club contacts or DW himself that prove it.
