I'm all for it. Especially if it increases our chances of ever hosting another one whilst I'm still alive.

FIFA thinking of new ''income streams'' - run out of ideas & go for this
All about the ££££££'s & nothing whatsoever to do with football or the fans.

I’m the first to criticise players who moan about 2 games in a week, generally it’s the managers moaning to be honest. However, imagine the scenario of a player who plays for a club in Europa League which can start in June/July, Copa America/African Cup/Euros/World Cup qualifiers. World Cup and Euros tournament. FA Cup, League Cup, World Club Cup, Champions League.... We can say it’s ok because we are shit and don’t have tournament standard players but rewind 3 or 4 years. Let’s say it’s Mooy playing all those games, we would be pissed of to be honest.

No thanks, the world cup is special and is the biggest sporting event in the world, thats partly down to it being played every four years, playing it more regularly would take something away for me.

I think this is a counter by FIFA to the Euro Super League nonsense. They've seen how fans have reacted to the possibility of superstar players being omitted from major summer tourneys and are now trying to capitalise.
I'd much rather have Euros or a World Cup every summer than the world's best playing for clubs only in a franchised league.

Another money grab. A biennial World Cup would be nowhere near as big a draw for fans. I can't imagine it going down too well with clubs either, no one wants knackered players and the "big" clubs need the summer hols for their lucrative exhibition games. No thanks FIFA.

FIFA are completly out of touch with the average football fan (UEFA aren't that far behind them on that score either). There's a petition which will be debated in Parliament next month signed by thousands of fans, calling for an independent football regulator. This should be extended to the world game as well.

Agree with this. Yes they get paid a ridiculous amount of money but anyone doing anything needs a break now and again to spend time with families and out of the limelight. It'd be quantity over quality as well. You can't expect someone to perform a couple of times a week for potentially 3 years (if there's Euro's inbetween) constantly. You'd get numerous players pulling out of major tournaments with injuries (real or not) knowing there's probably another one next year making them less meaningful. Also there's the suspense of the world cup, you mess up and it's 4 years to make up for it. If it's only 2 years it's neither here nor there really and it would put international football on its backside.

Just trying to be knobs. What happens to the Euros then? It's a lifelong tradition. Funny they mention about Saudi Arabia on that, fuck them and the rest the middle East. Money bags wanting monopoly football. Fuck off and do ya own shite leave both these alone. It's sad as it's not about football now, all money. I get it's a business, but football without fans who are supportive means fuck all.

There is effectively a football World Cup every 2 years already with the Olympics alternating with the World Cup.
Last years was delayed by a year and this year runs from 21st of July with the final held the day that we kick off next season.
Brazil, Germany, Spain and France qualified from Europe...will be interesting to see how many of their Olympic squad form their regular squad next year - they'll have effectively played non-stop without a pre-season for 3 years.

When FIFA was full of traditional footballing nations, this sort of nonsense wouldn't have been considered.
They get rid of a corrupt bastard with Blatter, replace him with someone who purports to be a new broom and here we see that they have zero respect for the game.
It's just not practical. As others have said, look at all the other comps, the qualifying & then let's not forget football is part of the Olympics.
They want to make it homogenised, pay per view, TV based football.
