Reading that thread about old shirts and seeing Simon Trevitt reminded me:
Every time he came down the wing/from full back, a group of fans used to shout "Burger"!
Has anyone any idea why? To this day it baffles me and my uncles could never explain it!

Thought the story was that he was given that nickname by Joey Jones because he said that every time he saw Simon Trevitt he was eating a burger?

Wow, bit of a letdown if that's true, was hoping for something along the lines of Cameron's pig 😁

Top player Trevitt, was there that day he scored a last minute equalizer after being 2-0 down at home to Palace on the opening day in 86.

But it was August 1987, just before I started first teaching job. 3 months before the 10-1 defeat. The kids were waiting for me on the Monday morning.

Ask him on Twitter if you're on there, I follow him and he's a pretty sound guy. Still loves the Town.

Yes he was a good player, a move was allegedly being lined up to then top flight coventry city before a bad injury put paid to that, came back but sadly was never the same, saw him in the pub last night so this threads a coincidence.

Not on Twatter or Fakebook, this is pretty much the only website I post on, the rest of the time online I'm just surfing, reading and downloading/watching TV shows and movies, and online learning.
I used to know a few people that are mates with Trev, but lost touch with them over the years.
Still can't quite believe it's nearly 3 decades since Warnock's side

I see him from time to time on his postal rounds, poor sod struggles on windy days with those lugs. However it is a different side to the top players who earn millions and live life in luxury, there are thousands who don't earn a long term living out of the game and move on when retired. Yes some blow it all on gambling/drink etc but a large percentage pack in and get proper jobs. Not on twitter, i think it is communication tool for those who think they are important and self obsessed, what a postman is doing on it god only knows.

Its raining, delivering my last letter, having a mars bar for breakfast? Personally not a fan of twitter, tends to be people on it who are rather self indulgent and self obsessed, however as you state everyone has the right.

I watched The Big Match Revisited the other day. It was from early 1980 and Spurs v Soton was on. It showed Jimmy Greaves in the crowd and afterwards Brian Moore interviewed him. He asked him what he was up to now other than the column he wrote in the Scum. He said he was involved in an up and over garage door company in Swindon and also sold insurance. The life of England's best ever striker 🤔.

I think it would make a good tv show, finding out what players of the recent past are now doing, also those who get rejected by clubs as young players, how their lives move on. It seems these days even the average player is quite rich, when they pack in they generally get coaching jobs at clubs. But players from the 70's and 80's couldn't do that. I was once at the hotel down the A1 in a little village just outside Doncaster doing a presentation, there were 4 brand new cars in the car park all together, a couple of range rovers, a bmw and a top of the range sports car. I saw 4 young blokes in the reception in track suits, i found out they were Hartlepool players waiting for the coach to pick them up for a game at Newport that evening. Hartlepool were in Division 2 then.

I was once stood waiting for a taxi outside the swan in Mirfield. He came out of the pub walked straight to front of the queue and jumped into the approaching taxi. He got a barrage of abuse from those in the queue. He turned his head and said ‘when you lot earn 2k a week you can do that.’ Quick as a flash my mate shouts ‘I’d want 2k a week with ears like that ya c*nt’. Talk about laugh. Anyway nice to see he either wasted his 2k a week or he was bullshitting.

A lot of folk just use it to talk to mates similar to facebook. I don't use it either by the way but I do use facebook, a lot of people I know use twitter but in the same way they use facebook.

When a news or sports story breaks, because I'm following a bunch of journalists and news sites (BBC etc), I get up to the minute coverage. Websites often take time to update their stories. So especially good on election nights and when Town are playing - get a fans' view of the game as it's happening. Vital if you cannot make the matches. I never use it to update personal things about my life, like people do on Facebook.
