"You can spend £120m net and get relegated. That's been proven more than once," said Webber. "We can't go all in now just to try to stay up for one season because, if we get relegated, we're in deep, deep trouble." "We are not sitting here on a load of money," said Webber. "There's a massive myth that goes around about the Premier League, where everyone thinks we've now got £170m just dropped in and someone has written a cheque for us. They haven't. "We can only work within the parameters that we've got. It's not like we're sitting here with £100m in the bank and we don't want to spend it because we're tight-fisted. "We're not spending it because we haven't got it. It's not a choice - it is what it is." BBC link

BBC linkIt won’t surprise that I agree with most of what Webber says As I’ve said before we went downhill since he left - Wagner’s magic getting us over the line and staying up hid the obvious flaws to most However - Norwich will spend fees in region of £15m x 2 to keep two players they’ve had on loan - more than we payed for all but 1 player in our two years in the top division

No one would disagree with him but if you"re comparing them to Town, I'm sure Norwich have a bit more get up and go about them, rather than Towns awful transfer dealings, targets and policy.

When they did it the 1st time I understood. Come back down with enhanced coffers and go back up to stay.
If he does it again then, IMO, it's showing he doesn't know how to get value at higher prices.

Still not bad value as they helped increase income over the next few years by over £100m plus.

I think that's a great point. He's shown himself to be a very canny operator at Championship level. As we've seen, when you start getting involved in the bigger transfers it's easy to get played and get mugged off.
