They get their news from Datm/Twitter gossip. They didn't report it until it was on here and didn't pour cold water on it until Maynard said there was no truth in it.

Is that pouring cold water on it? I can't see any statement from the club in there? or did I miss something in the 'news' story? You are correct no statement from the club no need to be I believe Maynard is 100 percent correct on this end of story close the thread down So we're definitely going into the new season without a good championship class keeper then

Doing it on the cheap, as per.

No statement from the club but they aren't going to comment on every player we're linked with. The Horvath connection was always speculation and I believe it's not true if both Maynard and the Examiner say so.

Reports suggest that he's going to Fulham as they have beaten us and Spurs to his signature. Oh, well at least we beat them to Lee Nicholls

Even if we were would he come here if Fulham could double what we could offer & Spurs quadruple it? Wake up!

As well as the cash I think people also forget the recruitment difficulties that come with being a club based in a small provincial Town. If you were a young, well off lad where would you rather live, London or Lindley?

Remember when we had about 5/6 players all commuting in from Liverpool which is far from ideal but you have to allow it. Young wealthy footballers will not find Huddersfield appealing like we do and it will result in us missing out on players. Especially when it comes to overseas players.

So not sure I buy that.

There's a reason the super rich flock to London; the prestige, the nightlife, the shopping, the society. Footballers are no different.

So is it fair to say that apart from Millwall and a couple of other Clubs our proximity to these Cities gives us a huge advantage in attracting players over other Clubs in the Division?

Who finds Huddersfield appealing? I only go back to watch games see old friends and family, I would not live in Huddersfield given a choice. I am tied to the place having been born there and spent my formative years living in the town. I recall that Huddersfield was the place to live in our corner of Yorkshire, a much more prosperous town than Halifax and Barnsley for instance. I do not get the same feeling when I go back. Having lived in many different places I don't think that many would go back to live in Huddersfield if they had the experiences that I have had. By the way I would also add the weather in to this as well, too cold too wet.

Never been more desperate to get back up North. You don’t have to live in the Town Centre - on the outskirts there are some great places to live. There’s no place like “home”

There’s no place like “home” I agree with this having lived away for 12 years and moved back. There are some grim parts of Huddersfield including the Town Centre. This in the case for all post industrial towns in the North and Midlands, with the exception of the big cities. Since I came back, I have lived in the semi rural parts of Colne and then Holme Valleys and I love it here. Can't disagree about the wet weather though.

I don’t think most young footballers care that much about where they live. They’re on the road all the time, and embarking on a potentially lucrative career. They’ll go wherever they can get game time, then they’ll go wherever they can to progress their career (and earning potential). The sacrifices these guys make to get to where they are is incredible, they won’t jeopardise that based on a lifestyle choice.
Scanz came up and thought there was an undergound, he had no idea and it didn’t bother him.
It’s when they settle down with a wife and kids that location starts to matter, and even then it’s more likely to just be about stability.

There’s no place like “home” I moved here, by choice, from Essex half a century a go. Much better climate down there and 45 minutes from London but I wouldn’t swap for anything. My kids are all local born and live locally. The town centre and some areas close in are very run down but as you say there are some fabulous places a little further out. I see the problem attracting young players but it is still God’s country for me.

Doesn’t make too much sense that one. Samba is a pretty decent keeper. Shame, as on paper he would have made a good signing for us.

We don't have much in the way of wiggle room money-wise, until somebody leaves for a fee and even then, midfield will be a priority.

Midfield signings will be crucial. But we should have wiggle room for a decent keeper. We’ve just saved an absolute fortune on wages.
