Good prospect, surprised it's been pegged down as a B team signing. He's a big big lad for a centre midfielder, very direct going forward with the ball. Wouldn't be surprised to see him off the bench a few times towards the end of this season.

I think probably down as b team signing as reckon can develop him or adapt his game somehow before been given a first team opportunity

Curious that a 20 year old who was good enough to play 26 teams for a decent Accrington Stanley last season should be signed specifically for the B team. Suggests that Town clearly don’t yet see him as ready for the first team squad and that they need to work on his weaknesses.

He'll need to start drinking his milk if he wants to be considered for first team action here.

You’d probably put him ahead of Scott High in terms of experience a campaign in league 1 compared to Scott’s few games in league 2 and cameos off bench.
A better schooling as well at Chelsea, it does seem bizarre he’s labelled as a B team player.

Looking at the Accrington forum, their fans don't seem to be convinced that he was good enough to have been playing 26 games for them.

He started the season very brightly for them but faded as it went on and was mainly used off the bench if at all. They stuck him in a more defensive role due to his size when it doesn't really reflect what he's good at- he's in the mould of Barkley or Loftus-Cheek, a big and direct attacking ball carrier.

You'd hope that with the amount of young talent we have in midfield in the B team, that one of them is going to break through this year.

You make a valid point and town think he is worth taking on but having played twenty six games in league one the lad as got a chance he could well play in the first team as the season progresses .more to gain than lose in this one for me

Potential is there clearly as he will have been drilled in decent games at Chelsea. And it’s good to hear positive comments about the club too.
Good luck Jon, let’s see you make a career for yourself 👍🏼.

I could be wrong but I seem to think we can only officially register a certain number of players with the EFL / FA to the first team squad. I think it's 25 or 26..All other players then have to be officially registered with other squads, but can naturally be picked in a match day squad. So we are perhaps getting close to our officially registered number for the first team, so we've registered him with the B team. This is different to squad numbers as anyone can be given a squad number

I think the B team thing is two-fold:
1) He's just been playing in the division below & didn't seem to excel. Suggests that he's not ready yet to have an immediate impact. 2) Expectation management. Making it clear that he's "one for the future" reduces expectation on him to hit the ground running. We need a midfielder & we've just signed one from Chelsea - people might get giddy (& then disappointed/writing him off when he's not getting in the side).
Expect a few cameos & maybe a place in the side for our FA Cup 3rd round game. Owt else is a bonus this season.

Just the kind of signing our b team should be making. Good prospect with good pedigree. Well done town

This is different to squad numbers as anyone can be given a squad number It looks like age is the determining factor here. Although there might be a loophole for B team players that I haven't spotted. "43.9.1 Clubs shall be permitted to name up to a maximum number of Players in their Squad List based on the following provisions: (a) in respect of Championship Clubs, 25 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player;" "43.9.2 The following Players do not need to be included in the Squad List to be eligible to play in League Matches: (a) in respect of Championship Clubs, any Under 21 Player (save for any Under 21 Player who is registered with the Club on a Temporary Loan Transfer);" www.efl.com/-more/governance/efl-rules--regulations/section-6---players/
