Probably a rose tinted view of the past, but do they make footballers less resilient nowadays?
Injuries always seem to be a prominent discussion at most clubs, but back in the day it only ever seemed to be extreme injuries that made the news, cruciate ligament etc.

The more highly tuned athlete you are, the more prone youβre going to be to injuries. This is very true. Years ago, teams took the field for the warm up at 5 to 3 and strolled around kicking the ball to each other. Now they are out there for half an hour before kick off going through intensive warm up work. I watch βThe Big Match Revisited β every week, the pace the game was played in those days bears absolutely no resemblance to how it is played now. Itβs inevitably going to cause more injuries.

Pipa out for another 2 months yet Good grief. What is it with Town injuries? Hes been out for months and months. I m sure they never predicted him being out for over a year! Slight knocks and they're out for weeks. I don't expect to see Vallejo again this season. He's 6 weeks into a standard 12 week rehabilitation programme for the groin operation he had at the end of August. Surgery was the last resort after a summer of rest and physio failed to clear up the problem as had been hoped.

It's laughable some of the stuff on the Big Match revisited. I watch it too and the standard, well I think its more the speed of play that's lacking back in those days,it seemed at a slower pace. The pitches were pretty poor back then too.

Remember Toffolo and his suspension? 3 weeks out? Didnt return for weeks. Vsllejos concussion? May miss the next match? Months out It seems to be a recurring theme.

That is the trouble when players get noticed. But hopefully not. Newcastle offered 174 million with add-ons Plus Saint-Maximin to make up the shortfall?
