Cut our losses. Seems crazy to have now started the season and still be hoping someone takes them so we can then replace them.

I can see both sides of the argument but I would have thought the players would be busting a gut to get back playing football, either with us or somewhere else. The potential of them festering on the sidelines helps nobody but history tells us that some players are quite content to take the festering option.

Have a feeling Bacuna will move on pretty quickly . Despite our potential views on him , he always wants to be playing .
Mbenza on the other hand I imagine will sit around all season doing fuck all

Both players potentially have value, even if it's just as a future sell on clause.
Giving club assets away just to make things tidy seems a bit wasteful.
If it were my money I'd have taken the same calculated gamble.

And on the other hand with the right attitude & application these two should be ripping up this division.

He turned up for preseason 2 or 3 weeks before everyone else at the start of last season, doesn't sound like the sort of person happy to sit around doing fuck all.

It is is not just the money that we are "wasting" waiting for some silly buggers to take them off our hands. We have done a great job of getting our summer signings in nice & early but these two have hamstrung us adding the potential final pieces of the jigsaw. A huge proportion of our budget must be tied up in this gamble.

I think they will both be moved on before the window closes. Town will work it until the last minute to try and maximise their asking price, but if not will structure a sell on clause and do the usual undisclosed deal announcement to save face if they have to let them go on the cheap!

Have I missed something? Why are they now parasites just because Phil publicly decided to come out and try and look clever by saying there were pretty much done for as they were saleable assets who would be cashed in on?
I'm not arguing either gave their all for us, but it isn't their fault we signed them on PL wages and they're costing us money. I'd have rather of had a half assed Bacuna in midfield yesterday than High and Holmes.. absolutely zero quality all day.

Bacuna is just a bit brainless, I can't say he hasn't ever not been trying and despite the lack of a footballing brain has weighed in with some important goals.

I dont get how the club signed so many apparent wrong uns from the prem era. One or two possibly but not as many as we supposedly had.
Screams out to me that the club has handled certain players and dealings in a completely amateurish way.
The squad is weak. Surely these two should be utilised in some way rather than getting casted out and their value dropping by each missed game.

Yep. Can't really judge the decision until the transfer window closes.

I would imagine that we have received offers for both players, but perhaps the purchasing clubs can’t afford to offer them the same level of salary as Town.
Edit: I think both will go, but it might be last minute stuff. Either Bacuna and Mbenza reduce their wage expectations or the purchasing clubs offer them more as the window prepares to close.

Be honest…….which clubs are going to want either in the current climate. Both have talent, but one is a bit brainless and struts thru games winning, losing or drawing and the other has had about 4 or 5 good games in 3 chuffing years!!! There’s still money in the game aplenty at the top……but not where we are and below. Very few are paying good money for even top players with experience and a track record at this level right now and these two come with question marks attached as they go from good to pub in the same bloody game.

Why are we "waisting" time responding to this ultra negative WUM?
The guy has never made a single constructive, positive post in all the time he's been on this forum and is less convincing as a Town fan than that chap from Penistone who had loads of "Wednesday mates".
Fuck me, I'd swap this chump for GeorgePosh.

We did sign some very poor players when in the Prem and i believe some were singed after watching video's which is crazy. I use to know one of the scouts and was told at one point we had around 40 scouts and now only 3, don't know if that is true or not but we had some good scouts in Ireland i know that. All that money wasted but like other thing's in life, i suppose it is a learning curve and how many clubs get it right first time, !! very few.

2 of the most frustrating players I have seen in a Town shirt. We've seen brilliance from them and glimpses of real talent, but unfortunately it is just that - glimpses.
I assumed when we took up the options we already had moves lined up. If nothing materialises they need to come back into the squad, even if it's just cameos off the bench now and again. Otherwise we are just chucking money away in wages.

The Clubs treatment of these two supposed assets is absolutely shambolic and amateur.
How the fuck are we supposed to maintain they have a value and are worth signing by another Club when we are effectively rendering them useless.
You honestly couldn't make this shit up, you really couldn't. What a joke our Club is at times. An absolute joke.

Was a big gamble signing these 2 up for another season in the hope other clubs would be interested in their services and pay decent fees. If they’re both gone by 31 August, then ok, but if the gamble doesn’t come off and we’re stuck with them for a further 12 months, someone will have egg on their faces. I’d have waved both of them goodbye when their previous contracts expired.

Reckon they'll go on loan, taking them off our payroll and maybe a loan fee.. Come January option to buy.

Although he has been one of the most frustrating players in the history of HTFC, I still think Bacuna can carve a decent career. At times, he is outstanding and some coaches will fancy their chances harnessing his undoubted talent. The problem is what goes on in his head…

Unfortunately with only a year left on their Town contracts, they'll go out on loan, the new club will offer them a pre-contract in January and they'll end up moving for nothing. At least there might be a loan fee and a reduced wage to pay.
