If we’re that cash strapped for 30k then we might aswell just pack up and go home. Deciding to extend Mbenzas contract has probably cost us 60k since July and the club decided they could afford to do that. Remind me, how many Shirts do we have to sell to achieve a £30k profit ? is it two?

As I say…. Probably should think about that before handing out contracts to players we have no intention of playing….

Disagree. We’ve wanted a home ground that we control. Gone are the days where we just to every other away club with a slightly large away following in the pursuit of a few quid. Big mistake not giving Everton the whole of the south stand; especially as we are so cash-strapped at the moment and turning away £30,000 is a poor business decision and cue the "Dean needs a new pair of shoes" comments in 5...4...3...

I'm sure they'll get to the point where you can use a card or phone to pay at the turnstiles for pay on the day, but I think using cash there has gone for good. It must be a logistical and security nightmare taking cash at the turnstiles, especially at night when you can't see much. Let alone nowadays when there'll be 100's of covid related instructions and regulations. Haven't fans paid in cash for Well over 100 years? even at night They have and there's always been some 'security' when moving the cash, which isn't needed any longer. Nor do they have pay someone to count it all. I'm sure the turnstile operators are much happier not having the responsibility for the cash, I know I would be.

By way of happy coincidence, I'm in Huddersfield today for the first time for over 18 months. It looks, from comments here, that I can pay on the door. Just to make clear, do I go straight to a turnstile or go to the ticket office first?

Just to make clear, do I go straight to a turnstile or go to the ticket office first? Site says: There will be no ability to pay on the turnstile on the evening, so we strongly recommend you buy in advance online. If you can't do that, we'd strongly encourage you to come down early to get a ticket from the Ticket Office. Supporters need a previous booking history with Huddersfield Town to book in home areas.

I'll tell the dozens of staff who were made redundant last year that £30,000 (or £20,000) isn't much, then Some of those made redundant worked in the ticket office and now fans complain that they can't get through, tweets and emails unanswered but hey, as long as CSL are happy then who am I to complain! Think you’re missing Ben’s point. Football is already getting far too commercialised and the fans suffer for it, if we start sacrificing the south stand for an extra £20/30k at the loyal fans expense then what’s the point? Of course generally it’s a lot of money, but is it really going to make a significant difference to how we operate as a club? Absolutely not. It’s up to the brains of the football club to come up with ways to generate revenues and streamline costs but it should never be at the cost of fans losing out, when we’ve worked so hard to get a good atmosphere and unity going at OUR stadium. Used to piss me off watching the likes of Leeds/Sheff Wed etc come onto our patch and be heard 24/7. Additionally as Ben alluded to it gives them an advantage on the pitch too and isn’t that what we all care about the most? Winning on the pitch.

You also need to factor in the extra police & stewarding required for the extra travelling fans, the removal of the segregation in the stand & then reinstalling of it before Saturday & the money the tax man takes off each ticket. Reckon it'll be 10k max the club will lose. Then on top of that they'll be CSL regulars that would give it a miss because the can't get their usual seat.

I think you’re looking at it from the wrong angle. The financial mismanagement of club under Hoyle and Winter is the main reason why many lost their jobs, not because town fans are getting the south stand tonight. Let’s not make this into an argument over something it isn’t. The club has given town fans the chance to be in the south stand tonight, which granted they didn’t have to do but they have and if town fans don’t back that then it isn’t necessarily a cowshed loyal or south stand or town fans problem. It’s more of a reflection on the clubs recent showing in cup competitions and results in general. As for the CL, like any town fan that stand in there and have for since it’s first league game against Blackburn 5/6 years ago we want town fans to have that south stand for every game. In all those years it’s been backed, supported, filled, given new voice, life and colour to a stand that was once dominated by away opposition. It’s not a case of if they’re happy then that’s all that matters, it’s a case that it’s a stand for town fans too. Also to add that IF the club wanted it could of given a section in the south end of the main stand if it wanted to give more Everton fans tickets and they’d of got more in too…. But that wouldn’t be popular with regulars in there. So why should it be for south stand regulars too?

We're all looking forward to being in there 👍

The club should have said to you guys, if you want that area for this cup game then fill it. As it turns out, now we have a situation whereby the club can't offer pay at the gate because of fear that Everton fans will arrive and be in the home areas, thuis losing even more revenue. But no it's not our fault... Not continuing any more with this, we are where we are!

There were 2 Everton fans in the Kilner Bank giving it the big one when they scored the winner.
