Well, despite a generally blackly received win on Tuesday night, games are coming thick and fast, and there’s only a limited period of time for dwelling on it too much before Saturday’s big game. Anyway, hopefully the 3 points against Preston will be a vital confidence booster for the tough task in South Yorkshire, in what will be Town’s second visit to the Steel City in the space of 3 weeks - this time in the league against a Utd side who finished bottom of the PL 2020/21.
It’s another early chance to see how we can fare against what was at least thought to be a well-fancied side for promotion. Their new manager is none other than Slavisa Jokanovic, who is well remembered for his good record of guiding teams to promotion from The Championship (Watford and Fulham a few years back).
The Blades haven’t started very well it has to be said. In fact they haven’t scored a goal yet in 3 games, duly following on from last season in the PL, where the pitiful number of 20 was marked in the “Goals For” column. But, it’s still pretty much the beginning of the season, so they won’t be getting the knives out just yet at Utd. UTT

Regardless of their result tonight, a draw has to be seen as a great point for us on Saturday.

0-0 on the cards?
They will probably find their scoring boots.
Toffolo back so play 4 at the back with Thomas and Koroma wide of Rhodes.
I’d like to think that we will have a go but know that we will try and scrape a draw and end up losing 3-0.

Regardless of their result tonight, a draw has to be seen as a great point for us on Saturday. Can't deny that, for sure. Didn't see the game v WBA, so how did their sprightly codgers up front do? Would have liked to have seen Sharp at Huddersfield, but it never came about. Just looked at BBC report, how did Burke do for Sheff U when he came on?

It's almost inevitable they'll end their goalscoring drought. Doesn't Sharp almost always score against us?

Psychologically the first goal in this game is massive. We looked a different prospect after going 1-0 up last night.

We have to put their defence and keeper under pressure early on. Force corners, it's our biggest/only threat.

They have reminded me of us after getting slapped every week in the premier league. It's not easy to change that mindset especially after not scoring in the first 3 championship games.
0-0

Wouldn’t be surprised to see them get off the mark, 3-0 win to the blunts and a straightforward win. We’ll then get a beating from Everton and hope for better against Reading. Can’t see beyond that presently.

If anyone is confident of a Town win we can be backed a whopping 19/4, which to be honest, speaks volumes about Town.

I am hoping for a win of course but can only see us losing this one, 2-0 to the Blades, my prediction of us finishing 16th/17th seems on course ........ for a few more days at least!

If sadly we do receive a drubbing in this fixture then I think Carlos will be finished. Lets hope Town surprise us all !

We always get dicked by teams who are out of form or short on confidence. Sheff Utd 2-0 Town.
And if he starts Ward again he needs to be sacked.

They played some good football last year but really struggled for goals. They seem, as we did, to have lost their confidence since relegation. I hope this is a better game than vs Preston but it could easily go either way. We should have our COVID isolators back which may help, though I guess that is just Toffolo now. If Pearson has succumbed then it will be Tom Lees again which is a decent swap.
Hard one to call. I hope we play Rhodes but I think it will be Campbell, certainly at the start. Happy for Thomas to start on the left if we have Toffs back otherwise I hope he swaps him back to the right.

No idea on a result here,we played very reserved against Preston as was clear instruction to not make mistakes or over commit.Contributed to a very poor game and wasn’t fluent but the result was what mattered. It does now give us the opportunity to play with a touch more freedom on Saturday and given their start even more so,clearly they are suffering a similar hangover to what we did which isn’t surprising given the amount of games they lost, also changed manager and in a slight transition. We do tend to start games well(with exception of Preston 😂) Get at them and in their faces and really put the pressure on,an early goal and they could shrink, fans be on backs etc. Hopefully toff is back and can revert to 4-3-3 and actually really go for it. That said will still take another scruffy win or even a point 😂

It's nice that we allow someone to kick the game off for us, abit like the first pitch at baseball. The only difference is we let Ward wander around the pitch for 45 minutes after.

I've absolutely no idea what he brings to the team, on his return I think I've seen him do a couple of good flick ons and managed to score 1 towards then end of last season didn't he? Other than that nothing and he spent at least 15mins of the 45mins on his ass on Tuesday. Never going to be the goalscorer Rhodes is and doesn't have it in him to do the chasing that Campbell does so I just cannot get my head around why he seems to be first choice striker.

After watching last nights game, there was only one conclusion for me. Blades can’t defend set pieces. 0-3 Town

Should be going there looking to put pressure on them after their slow start.. but Town being Town we’ll roll over and let them get their season started.
