Must admit, I am excited by the news of a potential return to play in England. First Manchester City mentioned as if it was a done deal, and now Manchester United showing serious interest. All to be agreed with Juventus admittedly, but think a return to United would be better to even things up in the PL.
Or....can Phil dig deep and get him here?

It's all down to Ole now isn't it. If he can't win the league with the investment they've put in this season getting Ronaldo, Sancho and Varane, he'll be gone.

He sells shirts m'lord, he sells shirts Not arguing with you, honest, just pondering. Does this really sell many MORE shirts, or switch the name on the back from a different player? i.e. "I was going to buy a Man U shirt with Maguire on the back but now I'm buying one with Ronaldo on it"

Juventus sold 60m worth in 24 hours when he signed in 2018.

Modern football is weird!

The media frenzy will now ensue. Yes it’s a big story, but feck me, they don’t half go overboard with this stuff nowadays.
The only thing I’ll be interested in, is seeing how a very good player, but one heading into his late thirties, will cope with what can be a very tough league. It feels more like a marketing ploy than a good signing for building your team around for the next few seasons.

Top scorer at the Euros. It's a brilliant marketing device for United, no doubt, but the value he'll add to them in terms of his quality and commitment I'm sure will be their top priority, even if it is for two years max.

29 goals in serie A last year wasn’t it? With the amount of chances Pogba/Fernandes create, he could easily racking up crazy numbers. Probably not the sort of 50-60 he was getting in the farmer’s league, but 30+ for him definitely achievable.

I wish City hadn't have bottled signing Messi, we could have had a Messi Vs Ronaldo Manchester Derby. That would have been a right game to watch.

Paddy Power we’re offering 8/1 yesterday on him being top scorer this season, which seemed rather generous I thought.

He is now going to buy exactly the same shirt, but this time with Ronaldo on the back. Very strange, but I doubt he’s the only one in that situation!

It's difficult to really conceive how big he and Messi are: I still remember him as a spotty youth with 'worms' in his hair. He's a global icon that transcends football. The only occasion I've seen him live was at Basel vs Real Madrid in the Champions League a few years ago. That game had to be stopped on four separate occasions due to youngsters running on the pitch just to try and touch Him. There was a genuinely messainic air about it - everybody was there to watch him (apart from me who was there because it was free). Utd will have no trouble monetising the fervour that surrounds him, and it will be a welcome boost to the global profile of their brand which has slipped slightly in recent years. The boost he will give them on the pitch is a bonus.

I’m certainly not disputing his ability. To play at the level he does at 36 is unbelievable.
He appears to be a decent human being off the pitch as well.

Apparently Rio Ferdinand has been bugging him with phone calls ever since he was linked with Man City. Rio said to Ronaldo, just think, you sign for them and you're going to have to explain to Mr Ferguson why you did that, because he'll be ringing you and demanding to know!
