Guys, not been to a game for a while, obviously, few years back I parked outside the rope walk ( my dads disabled). After the game we tried to leave but the stewards put barriers out and said we couldn’t leave until all the fans had vacated the area, got tickets to the Forrest game and would like to park there again, but do they still block you in or is that fiasco done with? Cheers

Safety, they've held the cars to let the crowds clear for a while now. Think someone got hit a few years ago, so may have been after that.

To be fair most of the cars were cleared from the Town Avenue car parking by 17:20 today so it all depends if you’re in a rush or not.

In the car park behind the South Stand there is a notice that states that traffic will be held for 15 minutes after the final whistle. However, if the police or safety officials decide that the number of fans leaving on foot before makes the situation dangerous, they close off the car park early. Eminently sensible imo, but does lead to rows from motorists wanting to leave early.

If a 4 - 0 win does not chill you out I do not know what will, could listen to Oggy and matt post match commentary to relieve your tensions.

Lots of places round the ground have been closed off post game in recent years, totally sensible IMO. The one that gets missed is the Gas Club, I’ve lost count of the number of times some nobhead in a BMW thinks it’s ok to try to encourage people out of the way with the threat of a gentle nudge with their bumper. If you’re that desperate to get home then park further away!

That’s just reminded me - walking away from the ground on Saturday, got to the top end of the coned off St Andrews Road, near the little takeaway, when a black golf zoomed straight passed us - he’d jumped the kerb off Leeds Road and onto the pavement to bypass the cones; don’t know how far he thought he was going to get when he hits the next coned off area at the lights!

I’m also reminded of a car driving along Leeds Road on Saturday after the game. Bloke had his window down and was listening to Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best” A quick witted Town fan behind me said “ If Michael Bolton comes on next, it’s a Reading fan”

If I go in the car I park in Fartown. 10 minute walk back or 10 minutes sat in the car.

If you park that close to the ground you have to accept that you can’t get moving quickly afterwards - common sense really I’d have thought.

Yes and disabled people are quite capable if waiting 10 mins for the crowd to clear just like anyone else.

Does your dad use a mobility scooter/powered chair? Does he have a blue badge?
I'm a scooter user/BB holder, & generally either park on the double yellows on St Andrews Rd, or in a P&D space depending on where I want to go/what I want to do. Even my cheapo poxy little boot scooter does me fine on the roads around the ground & allows me a similar sort of getaway as most pedestrians.
Allowing traffic to move through the crowds at either end of the ground just isn't a good idea.

Wasn’t at all moaning in this thread was simply asking a question, so I’m not sure if you was aiming that ‘disabled people can wait like anyone else’ my way :/

No mate no mobility scooter just a stick, we sometimes park near myers and walk on, which he is fine doing, but I just thought if I can get as close as I can to the ground, why not,
