Always a good barometer.
So far, looking pretty decent:
- most goals scored since CC took over across 10 games (16) - second best total points over 10 games since CC took over (best was 17 last season) - Improvement year on year for first 10 games of the season (13 last season after 10) - 1.6 points / game average (Top 10 finish material)
All in all, very good start

Realistically, the Top 3 spots look booked bar a disaster for the 'big three', but three play off spots up for grabs, Stoke look reasonably strong, apart from them and a run from Sheff Utd, the remainder of the league is nothing to fear.

The fact we can even - at all - contemplate play-offs is crazy in a good way! However, sadly I think we have zero chance - not enough depth and consistency, but would love to be proven wrong!!!

To me avoiding a relegation scrap would be a big step forward, top half is dreamland and anything better that that is just scary!

We have more strength in depth than last season I reckon. Lads out on loan, 2 good players to come back from injury making January already providing options. Carlos learning. All good. Every chance of remaining interested in the play off position for longer this time.
Everyone beating each other makes the 6th spot within reach for more teams for longer.

Barring Fulham, Bournemouth, West Brom & arguably Sheff U, there's not much between the rest. What could make the difference is the togetherness of the team & fans. Full-time on Tuesday proved we have that in abundance at town.
We have stronger competition for places, the players are all pulling in the same direction, Pipa, Rhodes & Rowe still to come back in to strengthen the squad further. No reason why we can't push for one of the 2/3 playoff places up for grabs, it's not a particularly strong championship this season. If not I'd be really happy with a top half finish. I just want to see genuine progression that will see us competing at the right end of the table each season.

I must say this every year. Winter is coming....
We were looking good at a this stage last season, until LOB got injured and Koroma, and Toffs. then we were fucked. We still have no real depth. Injuries pile up when the cold weather arrives, lets see where we are come February.

Elated with how we are playing, but play off talk I think is still far too premature, we need consistent displays for that. Mid table would be a big success in my book.

As I’ve only just started coming to watch HTAFC, my first game being Forest, the only way was up as far as I was concerned. I couldn’t go the other night against Blackburn but there seemed to a lot more fight from the team from what I saw on Quest highlights. The lad who crossed the ball over for one of the headed goals looks pretty decent to me. He didn’t get the ball enough against Forest either which could’ve made a bit of a difference if he had. Anyway, keep the positivity going now!

There feels to be more unity amongst the players than we have had for a while so let's dream big.

I love this board, if we lose on Saturday with a poor performance, it'll be back to the negatives. People were calling for Carlos’ head last weekend 😂
I believe we will finish mid table and I’d be happy with that, big improvement on last year and the right direction. You only have to look at Brentford to see how often they consistently finished mid table to just outside the playoffs before they got close a few seasons back and the finally went up the year after.
It’s all about incremental improvements on and off the pitch. I genuinely wouldn’t want to get promoted this year - call me crazy or weird but we’d get absolutely bumholed in the prem, who realistically is even PL quality as it stands? Certainly nobody on a consistent basis.
For me, it’s just nice to be going into every game thinking we can win this and seeing the players actually give a fuck for our badge again.

I started this very same journey as yourself 41 years ago (albeit not going to games) and never regretted it once... A fantastic club with a true soul and history... fantastic fans to match... and a fantastic road trip it’s been for me. May it be equally joyous for yourself stephenyorkshireterrier !

I predicted a 16th/17th finish to the season, but It looks at the moment that we will finish higher. If we could be a little more consistent then who knows where we will finish up. If we are hovering around the play off zone come January will the club invest in a few players for a final push to reach the play offs . Lets be honest, its Town, who knows what will happen during the season.

We will probably be in the automatics and shit ourselves then go onto sell our most prize asset (insert here) and party like it’s 1999!……that sounds familiar! I know Stewart went in feb 2000 but that dosent fit into the Prince lyrics!

Ironically a mid table finish could be better for us than ending up pushing for playoffs. Aside from the Prem relegation season, the last time we haven't been anxiously battling at the top or bottom of a division was 08/09. It must make things very hard in terms of planning for the next year around budgets and squad etc. A couple of years of mediocrity will help us plan better, build a better squad and challenge properly at the top end.

Stuck my neck out in August, saying we have a good chance of play offs or better, observing a well knitted drilled team taking place, no safe assumptions from me.
The Blackburn game said it all, the grit, fight back, the whole team as a unit.
Every game we play, we have a chance of winning, do not care if they are top, or bottom of the table.

While I don't disagree with either of you. The original comment is pretty much endorsed by our Chief Executive. www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/huddersfield-town-discuss-emergency-signings-20219209Are we better prepared for the Premier League then we were in 2017? We've certainly learnt some lessons on how not to overspend but that would likely mean relegation after the first season, ala Norwich City. Anyway, it's not going to happen, we aren't good enough yet to be seriously talking about playoffs, let alone promotion.

Cautiously optimistic for sure. I just hope that there is some more transfer activity in the Jan window. I think we are one or two signings short to bolster the squad and augment what is turning out to be a healthily competitive squad. Not necessarily big hitters, but feel we are only an injury or two away from struggling again. Don't want too much expectation on Sorba Thomas either, but at this rate we may be fending off interest in him soon. Someone to augment his threat going forward would be ideal. No idea who. Dare say we are a more attractive proposition to sign for now too so, fingers crossed.

I don't think there's a massive difference between now and this time last season in terms of quality on the pitch, but what has struck me is that there appears to be much more fight and character in the squad than last year. We've won points we didn't deserve through spirit and fortitude, something that hasn't happened for a few years.
