They are a big club. How many sides in England could get 70k a week if their stadium allowed? 5 or 6 maybe and Newcastle are one of them Big clubs win things regularly and stay near the top, the likes of Newcastle and Leeds dont, they just have a large support But that support comes and goes in massive swings. Love Newcastle as an away day but even more delusional than the chestwankers

Have a look back at their attendances since the 1980’s when they were out of the top division - 50,000 loyal fans? Nah… not for me.

So Newcastle on 3 points, second bottom, relegation favourites at the moment... How much can the multi-billionaires plough into the club next year when they are in the Championship?

Which of the best players in the world are they going to attract? Those from Paris-Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Man Utd, Real Madrid, Barcelona? There are only a limited number of world class players to go round. Perhaps these players will take a chance and go to a PL team that haven't won anything for 50 odd years... just for the money. I honestly cannot see it working.

I honestly cannot see it working. It takes time. Initially they will start with good Premier League players like Lingard and as they start to climb the table in year 2 to 3 will be able to attract the more high end talent. Money talks too so I bet even now they could get someone like Stones or Sterling who aren't getting much game time I'd love to see them try to sign Haaland in the summer. That would be a proper statment of intent from the owners but probably a bit too early in to the project for him to go for it

Of course Newcastle are a big club and its absolutely laughable to even try and argue otherwise. It's only 25 years since they broke the world transfer record and were twatting Barcelona at home in the Champions League, and played enough European games for Shearer to manage 30 goals for them. They may have been a doldrums club for a good while back before Hall and Shepherd came along, and the Mike Ashley era has been laughable at best, but go and live up there for a couple of years (like I did in the mid noughties) and just see for yourself how big they are. Football isn't a sport to Geordies, it's a way of life.

Maybe it be better for them to go down and build next season?. Its a strange one. Have to go backwards to go forward situation?

Football isn't a sport to Geordies, it's a way of life. Totally agree. I’ve spent time up there and football is an absolute religion to people. More so than in any other place I’ve ever been too. Those thinking that they will not be able to attract the best players are very much mistaken and maybe don’t understand how great a place Newcastle is. It’s been done before with Ginola and Asprilla. Players will go there and be idolised in a way that they have never experienced before.

Perhaps because they think having a 52k capacity means you are entitled to be a big club. Trophies. That’s what really counts. Not won anything on my lifetime. Pathetic really

Saint-Maximin... end of the first half found himself in a similar position to Holmes yesterday. Beat a couple of players just inside the penalty area, but didn't have Holmes' deftness of touch, or skill to put it into the top corner. Saint-Maximin did an interview recently where he spoke of his admiration for Holmes and that he works everyday to become as good as him Think I missed that 1 hot a link? 😁

Has anyone told this lot that they can get relegated from the PL. can’t wait see them pissing their pants 😂😂 Wont bother them really tho will it?. This is why football is the way it is, Jack Walker started the trend in 1995 and now its out of hand. Nothing us as fans can do though, football is in a sorry state, we all love our club though at the end of the day.

Whilst I have to agree that Newcastle are a big club, they have some way before they become a Leicester. Also worth noting that that Wigan Athletic have won more recent silverware than they have.
But simply for what their owners are about, I hope they struggle like hell, but as we know, money from that part of the world seems to be welcomed with open arms by the footballing authorities.

I know they dont like Bruce now because supposedly he was a yes man to Ashley. But does anyone know why they " never wanted him in the first place " as suggested during the game today? Because they still think Benitez is the best manager ever to walk the earth. Every time they won it was all Benitez. Every time they lost it was all Ashley. Funny how that's changed now.
