Might have missed the reason somewhere, but anyone know why it’s on a Wednesday and not the usual Tuesday night slot? I don't think it was confirmed, but the theory was to even up the midweek games across Tuesday and Wednesday for Sky and the red button broadcasting.

Yeah I've noticed this season they seem to try and split the midweek fixtures evenly over Tuesday and Wednesday instead of most games on Tuesday other than maybe 1 or 2 on the Wednesday. Probably summat to do with red button or ifollow.

Bloody hate Birmingham, mostly cos of the 2001 relegation and cos we never beat them at home. I'm sure we'll go in front and be in control, and they'll snatch a scruffy late equaliser. B@stards. Certainly got a past with brum, results and history wise, town win 100% scrappy or not, who cares. They smashed all our coach windows after cheating their way through the 70s F A Cup quarter final and very lucky to get out of Birmingham unscaved One of two teams that i have never liked

Have personally never been to Birmingham itself, been through it on a train, probably the best thing to do!!. The zulus were bad back in the day. Never had a bus bricked on an away day. Glad you escaped unscathed.

Remember Gladstone alsp, he used to drink in the crowm. Bus driver for some reason decided to drive back through Aston and Villa just happened to be playing Walsall 18 march 1972. There was over 55, 000 at Birmingham City and around 45,000 at Villa. Certainly not liked in that neck of the woods

Without suffering any injury it's unscathed - unless of course you thought they were going to imprison you in a cave, then take credit for inventing a new word.

No matter what, Jutkiewicz will find a way to score against us. Let's just hope we have a decent buffer before that happens! A late goal in there 5-1 destruction 🤓

Interesting thread... i think apart from the Latchford incident hatred rightly so... Brum have always been a side we respect cos its always a tough game. Surprised they have struggled this season as they were strong back end of last season and looked like they would be pushing this time ... I did go by train and bus there in the mid 80s and we scraped a 1-1 draw with Julian Dicks netting a beautiful og late on. I think Vince Overson got theirs early on a header.Im guessing it was 1985-86 but i havent checked... maybe earlier...

Really looking forward to this game. A solid acid test of where we are. Win and we start to solidify our position in the top 6. Lose and we are still suffering from the painful lack of consistency that seems to hang around like a bad smell. I am hoping we start like a house on fire and really take the game to them. No mercy. UTT

Even if we were 10 pts clear of 7th place, I’d still be going into this game knowing that the first goal is always crucial, more so for HTFC in recent years…
I think Bowyer will set them up defensive tomorrow, so we’ll need to be patient.
What makes me scratch my head just now, is how many names we still recognise in some of these teams. Some of ‘em feel as though they should all be retired by now…

It was actually 86-87 season in a div 2 game, i went to that game too, it was town left back In brays cross that led to the own goal, there wasnt even 7,000 there.

On paper should be a straightforrad home win..
But we are predictably inconsistent..
Would love to see koroma get some game time.
We need him on form if we are going to stay contenders..
Birmingham and their rat faced c##t manager will try and shithouse a result..
1-0 town..

I'm predicting a 1-1 draw, just for a change. I wonder what the record is for the most consecutive identical scores in a particular league fixture. It might be one for the Guardian's Knowledge.

As I said after they played WBA on Friday. This team are a set of spoilers. They'll prevent you from playing and if that means booting it into the stands or up into the air for a bit of centre circle head tennis, that's what they'll do. They'll then try and hit you with set pieces. A very difficult game against a bogey team. Perfect opponents for the likes of Thomas and Holmes to run at. We should get a fair few free kicks and no one better from dead ball situations at the moment than us. 2-0 Town. As long as, if it's in shooting range, we let Thomas or Sinani take those too. Can't believe Holmes got to take that one at the end of the first half.

Here are some reasons why it will be very tough… 1) although they haven’t done well recently, their results belie some very decent performances in that time during which they have been very unlucky not to score more and gain more points. 2) we haven’t beaten them at the MacAlpine galpharm JSS in a league game in a quarter of a century - many of you don’t believe this historical stuff makes a difference but I do for reasons I can’t be arsed to explain. Personally, I’d be amazed if we won and would be happy with a point. Don't think I'll bother going now mate. In fact our last home league victory against them was on the 8th October 1996!! We have subsequently beaten them 6 times in that period though, the FA Cup win one home one away, and 4 victories at St Andrews. And in all competitions we have met Birmingham more times than any other club, 105 times, only Bolton come close with 103. I think you know that we've played them 115 times and that you've just typed the wrong number (because 103 comes really close to 105 but not to 115). Steve Bruce played for Birmingham in that 3-0 home win in 1996 and I think Marcus Stewart got a long-term injury that night (although he played at Oxford before submitting to surgery).
