I was just wondering if we're allowed to discuss historical events that don't involve football anymore on the off-topic forum. Or would they automatically be construed as being political, if we expressed any judgement about it? Or - can we talk about ancient history, modern history - but not what happened last week? I really think this ban on politics and current affairs seems a bit arbitrary right now. Are people allowed to talk about historical events in a purely scientific, neutral way, but banned from making any value judgements about them? If so, what's the statute of limitations? What counts as history, and what counts as current events or politics? Or is it just the twitch-of-the-admin's-fingers that defines it? Are people only allowed to discuss apolitical films and books and music?
You seemed to suggest discussion of religion is banned too (presumably because of hateful posts from a returning poster). What falls with in those bounds? Are people allowed to discuss anything, crime, the environment, disasters, diseases, ethical issues, etc. and make a judgement about it?
If Boris Johnson has to resign, will mentioning the word 'resignation' result in your post being deleted? Do we need to pretend that Huddersfield Town exists in a vacuum?
Just trying to learn the rules of the game.

Sadly I think that we do as a number of quite innocuous threads and posts have been cleansed recently as no doubt will this one. We must avoid any talk of the Whigs and the Tories in case that causes a polarised discussion and don't even dare to mention the Tolpuddle Martyrs.

They are killing this site. It is on its arse. I’m taking a break as everything of interest is removed without warning so what is the point?
Happy Xmas all and hope this site can reevaluate itself in 2022. Cheers!

Happy Xmas all and hope this site can reevaluate itself in 2022. Cheers! It's a shame that more and more posters are starting to feel this way as it was always such a good place to visit for some quite wide-ranging debates. Where else can you read and contribute to discussions on Huddersfield Town, The Covid Pandemic, those tw4ts who make up our lousy government, music links and of course wiping your backside. Now we seem to be restricted only to discussions about our football club provided it doesn't stray beyond some fairly arbitary boundaries set by 3 admins who choose not to consult with the wider membership before acting. Sadly the range of debates and discussions are as narrow and unadventurous as the on-field crap served up by our manager. Oh for the good old days.
