sources: Huddersfield Town plot move to sign Oxford United star Sykes Huddersfield Town are among a number of clubs plotting a move for Oxford United midfielder Mark Sykes, Football Insider understands. The Northern Irishman, 24, has been a stand-out performer this season, with eight goals and three assists in 26 games in all competitions. A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Huddersfield have been making regular checks on Sykes and are ready to test Oxford’s resolve to keep him. The goalscoring midfielder has entered the final six months of his contract at the Kassam Stadium. As such, several clubs are circling the League One side as they look to take advantage of Sykes’ situation. Huddersfield are among the most interested in the Belfast-born star as they look to bolster their midfield options. The Terriers have conducted numerous scouting missions for Sykes and are prepared to firm up their interest this month. The midfielder joined Oxford back in January 2019 from Northern Irish top-flight side Glenavon. He has gone on to establish himself as a mainstay for the U’s, with 117 appearances, 11 goals and 16 assists under his belt. Eight of those strikes have come this season, with Sykes often featuring in a more attacking role. A versatile midfielder, Sykes has featured centrally, as a number 10 and as a winger this season. He received a call up to the Northern Ireland squad by Michael O’Neill back in 2019. However, he was an unused substitute against both Belarus and Luxembourg. Huddersfield Town Huddersfield’s interest comes with the club sitting sixth in the Championship table. Manager Carlos Corberan is keen to add reinforcements to his squad this month to strengthen the Terrier’s play-off push. www.google.com.au/amp/s/www.footballinsider247.com/sources-huddersfield-town-plot-move-to-sign-oxford-united-star-sykes/%3famp

I appreciate a YouTube assortment of ‘best bits’ can often not paint the full picture, but he looks a good young player, not scared to go forward.

In the Twitter video, he showed some really nice touches in tight areas, especially the sequence from 0.33. Looks impressive on the dribble along with smart runs in behind. So he’s probably the 2nd incarnation of Diakhaby 😂

If he's a good player, make it so please Dean.
Would like to see a thousand Sykeylad shirts at a home game. 😊

Diakhaby has played a total of 14 league and cup games for a French second division team this season. Zero goals, zero assists. I'd love to know exactly who scouted him for us.
