For those watching at home, I have an offer for you NOTE TO ADMIN: Sorry if not allowed As some may know I am part of a butchers shop in scholes, Cleck, and to be honest the cost of living isn't doing us any favours, which is the main reason I won't be at the game. The supermarkets flooding cheap foreign(substandard) meat on the market is killing small independants like us. So for all those not going on sunday how's about having a bbq?? I will offer free delivery on any of our bbq hampers to anyone in the kirklees, calderdale or bradford, even leeds areas see them here or DM me for a list Once again sorry if I have broken any rules

That looks reet tasty - now if 1 in 100 DATM posters paid a visit and bought one or two items from this shop it would help keep yhem afloat. Working in Bradford - come down the M606 - Might have to pop to Sholes and partake of these meaty pleasures.

The supermarkets flooding cheap foreign(substandard) meat on the market is killing small independants like us. Question for you - and this is reason to support establishments such as yourselves (lovely gesture, by the way - I don't live in the area, but I wish you luck). Chicken breasts that seem to almost tear apart really easily - is that because the birds have been injected with so much growth hormones, that their muscles don't develop properly? Noticing it more and more recently, and not just with the bottom-of-the-range stuff.

One of my two local butchers didn't survive the pandemic, the other has gone even more upmarket than it already was - as in, mid/high end restaurant-grade meat, but at retail prices. I don't envy either business. Always good to support your local butchers/fishmongers/veg markets.

As a small business we appreciate every bit of support, we got through the pandemic, but this is something else entirely, I have been stopped from paid advertising and sales posts on facebook as PETA are shareholders and facebook thinks meat is offensive, so I just can't reach the wider audience like I could

Pipers, Wild & Game, Ethical Butcher, Farmison, Field and Flower amongst others. Not sure how they do it but it might be worth looking at what they do, because they are frequently on my feed.

I would assume they are paying decent money, as a small shop we were more dependant on free advertising like buy/sell groupd and marketplace, with a small amount spent on post boosting. My ad account was disabled, facebook shop deleted and was banned for 30 days for violating their commerce policies and attempting to sell offensive items, I have asked for a reference number needed to appeal to the oversights board but they have refused to provide one. I know bigger companies with large budgets are still able to advertise, money talks

As strong as his competition may be, they're (probably) not Town fans. I've never used this particular butcher (never lived anywhere near Scholes even when I still lived in W Yorks) but given the quality you can get from so many good small independents it seems bizarre to me that people still get so much of their meat from supermarkets. There are a few decent suppliers that send their products to the supermarket bit the majority of the "fayre" on sale depresses me. Independent food suppliers are hugely underappreciated in this country.

Having spent time in "Facebook Jail" for mentioning a certain type of meatballs popular in the West Midlands, then being told that actual death threats aren't against community guidelines I can accept the frustration that Facebook can give even to someone whose livelihood is unaffected.

Unfortunately the supermarkets have the power, mostly todays generation find shopping at 2 or 3 specialist shops too much effort, when its much easier just to fill a trolley full of cheap lower quality goods, a lot of people are also of the mindset that us smaller shops are ripping them off, yet first to moan when all of us smaller shops disappear, truth is unless we start to turn around quickly i doubt we will still be here in 6 months and 3 years of work and sacrifices will count for nothing. To be honest, as much as it breaks my heart, im exhausted with it all and a growing part of me is ready to chuck the towel in, I put in a 16 hour day most days, and last week I earned less than £100. This thing with facebook banning meat because of vegan shareholders has really got me down, plus i must get at least 5 messages or calls from vegans a week, with abuse, threats ect

As a chef good quality meat is hard to come by. Have you tried going round local pubs/restaurants and seeing if you can become their meat supplier? Even if you only managed a couple of places it would give you a much larger turnover.

Wish you all the best DX. Hope you come through it.
I’m not on fb, but sounds like a typical corporate. They have all the mechanics in place to suppress and threaten the little guys, but probably allow some shocking content on their site that they’ll claim is hard to police.
What a shit sandwich life continues to be…
Good luck 🤞

Hopefully business has picked up a bit for dxterrierJust a suggestion, but I was wondering if there was the appetite for a separate sub board for businesses owned by town fans to advertise. Each business has a separate thread to let people know (e.g.) their latest offers, or events etc. Also would work as a directory for people who need a plumber, an electrician, a butcher, a baker or a candlestick maker to go to support a fellow town fan's business.
