Heavily linked with Luton lol That's John Mcatee who currently plays for Grimsby. It's his older brother incidentally. Good player too!

But I wouldn't grumble at us getting John from GTFC either. Did you see anything of the National League Play-offs?

Saw them all and he was a stand-out player. Said to my mate that I wouldn't be unhappy to see him in HTAFC colours this season.

Would have been an awesome signing that would have changed the shape of the season which currently looks depressing.
We are crying out for loans, players we have zero chance of buying.

If he has gone to Sheffield United then from what I know about him that's an excellent signing.
A relatively short while ago we were supposedly favourites to get him ... then Dean explained that what money we do get (Grant, O'Brien,Toffolo etc) will be received in instalments over the next few years and put towards the cost of running the club.
Very prudent - so there's no way we would beat most other clubs our size for such players in our situation.
Very frustrating - our situation is that we owe Mr Hoyle tens of millions, and the tens and tens of millions we did have were wasted on the wankers we bought when "we" blew our brains out in the Premier league. Anyone for Danny S for the next few months and then Michael H when Danny goes ?
Still, we may yet land that centre half from Halifax ...

We used to genuinely compete for talent like this.
Sad.

We've brought Tino in and paid a million for Rudoni who play in the same position. Did people really think we'd still be in for Mcatee?
We've got other areas that need addressing.

Wet wipes are pretty nifty at shifting sand from your orifices.

There’s some absolute wet wipes on here. Why the agression ? Why can't people express an opinion, then you can either ignore it or point out why it's wrong ? I know it's not the swearing and vitriol that some resort to, but can't we just discuss things in a friendly manner ?

We used to genuinely compete for talent like this. Sad. We were in the play-off final two months ago! You sound like you’re harking back to some bygone age. Appreciate it’s not been a great 60+ days since then but it’s not that bad is it?!

Feels like last few contributions on this thread have been a bit dramatic. Good player no doubt. Think we’re relatively well covered there compared to other positions in the team so surely unrealistic to think we’d be in for him post Tino and Rudoni?

Or is it all speculation? Other teams are allowed to sign players too. Think there’s a bit more to transfers than just DH says we can sign him or DH says we can’t sign him. I also remember the L1 days of DH sanctioning transfers left, right and centre. Got us out of the division eventually but not sure it made for great business.
