See, I kind of get that point, and there are a few free agents that I'd be keen to see at the JS. What I struggle to fathom is the issue with signing players who we believe have the potential to get better. If you're angry about this, are you also angry that we brought in Tommy Smith? Jon Russell? Sorba Thomas? Are we wasting our time with the likes of Brahima Diarra, Brodie Spencer et al? If not, what's the difference? Boyle I'll give you. My pessimism there is tempered only by faith in the job Bromby and co have done so far, coupled with the improvement in other members of the squad in recent times with our coaches. Such a negative response to the signing of a youngster with potential is something I find baffling. You misunderstand I'm not against signing players like this but this has to be complimented by bringing in proven first teasers at this level, who can drive us forward. So far the main speculation has been about Boyle from Cheltenham, Debrah at Halifax and some 6ft 9 striker from Solihull!!! I accept that there is plenty of time in terms of signing players but I just think the club puts too much emphasis on this route at times when we might be well served getting in some proven quality at this juncture to improve on a good season. If the transfer budget is low, do we spend the money on Debrah and this big lad, as both are under 24 or do we use the cash to bring in someone who is ready to hit the ground running for the 1st team. I think if this was closing in on the end of window then I’d agree with a lot of your points but at this stage I don’t see the problem here. Listening to the Bromby interview he talked a lot about how much the club in the last 12 months has invested in the academy, not just in bringing players in but the support network within the academy. They’ll always need fresh talent bringing in to keep the B team competition high otherwise they won’t ever provide ready players for the first team. I understand towns approach but I don’t think we can fairly judge the window until it’s done and we’ve seen these players play. I agree it’s unlikely we will come third again with a squad of free agents. Hoyles back in charge, sadly, with that he’s now back as a custodian of the club and he and the club have to be capitalising on last season and laying down better foundations going forward with signings, sales, academy, coaching etc. No player lasts forever as we all know but it’s time that town create an infrastructure that will.

That says more about the Wales squad than it does Thomas's progress. Are you on the sauce on a Monday afternoon? Up to a point I can see what Christ in Shades (art) is saying re Sorba (although my outlook is perhaps a smidgen more optimistic than his). Entirely possible that this could be a "Josh Koroma" situation. JK had a great season 2020/21, but his over-reliance on the "cut inside and shoot with his right foot" trick has come up to bite him this time and he needs to develop other facets to his game if he's going to capitalise on the potential he seemed to show. Sorba is also VERY right footed. And just as JK has a lovely shot on him but not much in terms of assists, Sorba has a lovely cross on him but his shooting ability is somewhat lacking. Don't get me wrong, I bloody love Sorba, but there are areas of his game still to work on, and I hope he manages before defenders work out how to negate what has worked so well for him last season.

Done deal Expect him to go back out to league 2 though. He's very raw but a real athlete Presumably we want our development team to work with him first before sending him out on loan, maybe in the new year? Otherwise he's just being thrown in at a higher level with another team trying to help him.

The deal was verbally agreed Halifax want him loaned back to them. The deal is way further down the line than what the article states

The deal was verbally agreed Halifax want him loaned back to them. The deal is way further down the line than what the article states I read the article as what the manager hoped was going to happen, rather than what was/is happening. TBH at this time of year the managers/head coaches don't necessarily have that much control over who'll actually turn up on the first day of pre-season training - especially at the level Halifax are operating at.

The deal is way further down the line than what the article states But you stated it was a 'done loan' afew days ago with him potentially going to a league 2 club on loan. Now the clubs have only 'verbally agreed' with Halifax wanting him back on loan? 🤔

Town are after CB Jesse Debrah from Halifax town Dunno much about him but I feel a bit sorry for him. Being called Jesse would be bad enough but Debrah too? I bet his mates had fun with those names at school!!

Born in the year 2000 too.
Pretty sure there’s an indie classic that could be reworked in his honour if we sign him.

B team is looking in decent shape but I'd rather we spent what little money we have available on trying to strengthen the first team. We need players who can step straight in.

So if we sign Debrah. Do you think he'll be loaned straight back to Halifax or somewhere else, like Hudlin?
