Great for both. But slightly surprised that of the two returning, it’s Austerfield and not Diarra.
How bad is Diarra’s injury?

Not sure re: Headley, but Austerfield seemed to take a while to settle in there, it would be good to see him build on his progress from the end of last season.

Wasn't he also competing for the same position as the club captain or something like that.

It'll be really interesting to see how Headley does as it's his first loan at league level. It sounds like they are really keen on him, so hopefully he'll get plenty of game time.

Fingers crossed, remember seeing him in the friendly v Man Utd U23's and thinking he looked really promising and ready for a loan...that was two years ago!

It’s was mainly a comment with regard to the fact that Austerfield was largely a bystander for the most of his loan.

Must admit I'd be disappointed if Diarra was loaned to a club below Lg1 next season. Oh, absolutely - I don’t disagree. It’s was mainly a comment with regard to the fact that Austerfield was largely a bystander for the most of his loan. I expect that if we offered Diarra to Harrogate they'd jump at the chance (notwithstanding potential rules about number of players loaned from one club to another, and where they see their priorities being). I wondered the same about Austerfield given that he was competing with their captain for a place in the side, but as I understand it, when he got a chance due to their captain getting injured he took it with both hands. The noises coming from their coaches about both Austerfield & Headley sound very promising. As for Diarra: I hoped to see Harratt go to Lg1, but I can see the argument that our coaches (may) feel that his development is better served with regular first team football in League 2 than with occasional first team football in Lg1. I hoped to see Crichlow go to Lg1, but he's 23 now (for comparison, Juninho Bacuna was only a few months older than RC is now when he left) and still isn't a regular in the first team here, maybe the club have decided he is unlikely to make it here & they're just trying to fix him up at a club where he should be able to excel and start a career for himself. I don't see either of those arguments holding water for Diarra. I'd expect him to go to either Lg1, SPL or stay here & fight for a first team berth here. I genuinely see no value in him plying his trade any lower than Lg1 when he shone in Lg2 last season.

Will they be allowed to play in the friendly against our B team? I expect so, although if we draw Harrogate in a Cup competition I suspect we won't give permission for that.

I do wonder how much game time Headley will get as they have also signed Joe Mattock and it seems the versatile Headley is seen as mainly a left back at the moment.

I thought similar but it looks Mattock played all his games at centre back last season www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-mattock/leistungsdaten/spieler/49611I guess as he’s got older he’s adapted from a full back to a centre back
