9 goals in 58 games at Championship level. Exactly what we need from a striker

Wouldnt be a bad signing. Yes 9 in 58 isnt great, but has he started many games?
Sure he was on the bench with the Mbeumo, Watkins and Maupay.
Then with Toney, mbeumo and Benrahma.
Then last season aswell.

He would be a lot younger than the strikers we are used to playing with!

9 in 58 is deceptive. He was prolific at league 1 level in 2019-20, then was pretty much consistently coming off the bench for Brentford as they went up the next season, he scored against us off the bench in fact. Then didn't score much for a Hull side that weren't exactly creative or free scoring when I saw them play us last season.

Agreed - minutes wise he's played around 19 games in the championship and scored 9, with 2 assists. This suggests he'd be capable of 20+ a season, although you never know for sure. Plus he's only 23. In the 20/21 season he played 50 club games for Brentford in all competitions. 34 of those was sub. 8 of the 16 he started he was subbed off. He played the equivalent of 19 full games of football, scored 10 and assisted once. Stats can be interpreted/manipulated. These suggest he's worth a butcher's.

But does he have a release clause of £25M ? And do the Brentford fans think that he's worth double that?

Transfermarkt's player values are just uploaded by anyone, would always take them with a pinch of salt

Going off their transfer valuation O’Brien is worth £3.15m. Certainly don't feel like we've had Forest's pants down by getting £8-10m for him though.

Good player, more of a poacher though If more a poacher, in no way whatsoever is that what we need. Not that it sounds like we are after a striker 🙈

Cowshed Phil, can you sort out your strapline or whatever it’s called. Annoys me every time I see it. It’s Bill Shankly. There is no e in Shankly. Ta x

I'd expect most of his appearances were off the bench, as thats claiming he converted approx 88% of his chances!

I'd expect most of his appearances were off the bench, as thats claiming he converted approx 88% of his chances! Nah, his conversion rate % is in the 88th percentile, in other words, he’s better than all but 12% of championship players at converting his chances. So if there was 240 championship outfield players, he’s the 29th best at converting chances. Hardly sounding like a goal machine.

I think he's decent and would quite liked to have seen him come to us. Boro will be up there.
