Not a fan of his, but he's right on so many points.
Refs. Even in the PL, let alone below that, the standard has dropped massively in recent years. Some of the decisions (or non decisions) are borderline criminal in respect of how badly they get even basic stuff wrong, even in the PL with VAR.
Big clubs hoovering up players. Yup. How many players have Chelsea bought (or brought through their academy) and then they've gone on loan to 6 clubs in 6 years and never played for the first team. You then get the big clubs having others paying millions for them, even if nobody has really heard of them (eg the 4 Man City youngsters that went to Southampton for £40m combined, yet I bet even most Man City fans (let alone anyone else) have never heard of any of them (I certainly haven't)

But he don’t half trip himself up in the process of talking. He talks sense really but considering his background you could cast it off. He’s hardly a choir boy. Ended someone’s career and bullied youth team lot. Sure he’s grown up as it seems but it’s hard for me to listen to the little beatle wannabe |

Very interesting read. But I would love to remind Joey Barton about the Bradford City 0-1 Fleetwood Town game a few years. He did absolutely everything he is crying about in this article, in his references to Cotterill/Adams and spoiling the game/lack of entertainment. He must have forgotten about this match. Still enjoyable to read anyway despite the irony.

Today’s Ref was poor even without the ghost goal.
The authorities also need to start clamping down on cynical fouls, blatant time wasting and nicking at least 10yds on every throw in.
It pisses me off when Town do all these things as well, but it’s getting to the point where this destroys the game.
The authorities will do knack all about it though. The Refs are a closed shop, and unless you’re a club that gives them global exposure it’s pointless making a fuss.
Fecking hate the throw in thing and the time wasting though, does my nut in.

Spot on Atlantis-Nothing pisses all fans off more than not retiring ten yards after giving away a free kick.It is and always has been a bootable offence if you do not retire immediately ten yards,
The laws of the game do not need changing ,simply apply the current ones.
Also can anybody tell me- and it’s been asked before on here - why isn’t mock diving punished retrospectley.Assault in the past has been so why not diving.Chelsea,s Mend was a bloody disgrace against West Ham.

I wish that was a thing sometimes We had variations of docka soccer at school. One was it was basically a free-for-all that you could purposely foul/kick opposition player only when they were in direct possession of the ball (encouraged a quick passing game! spoiled by a few who would pass the ball to an opposition player as they charged towards them so difficult to get out of the firing line!) Then there was something I can't really remember the scenario that triggered it, but you lined up a tunnel of 3 or 4 kids on each side, and then someone had to run through the tunnel with the ball getting booted?! Maybe have something like that? |
