Would imagine he has the team that started in his thinking already considering he was at the game. However depending on how players perform in training he may make a couple of changes. Would like to see a fresh start for sorba too in truth, saw a stat this week that he’s top of the league charts for chances created despite the vast majority suggesting he’s be way off it this season. Hoping for at very least a positive performance, reading in a decent league position but shelled a few goals when they have lost and going back to stats they suggest that they should be nowhere near where they are. That all said be Tom ince and naby sarr to win it for them 😂

Who was the last Town manager to win his first game in charge? Grayson Donkeys years ago then, victory is probably unlikely on Saturday I would have thought then, based on new manager stats at Town.

Saw a bit of them on telly the other week, think it was Stoke. Jeff Hendrick ran the game.

Anyone driving this is from reading forum- As I understand things the M4 eastbound carriageway will close between J12 (A4 Theale) and J11 (A33 Basingstoke) from 9pm on September 30 and will reopen at 6am on October 1. It will then be closed again at 10pm and reopen at 5.30am on Monday October 3. The confusion is caused as the highways agency site is still showing the original closure plans of all weekend but the Chronicle (dated 27 Sep - link below) states the above changes following discussions between the agency and RBC. www.readingchronicle.co.uk/news ... ain-chaos/ Also be aware there may still be other roadworks in Reading itself if you’re coming down from Caversham/Crowmarsh directions. Fans should note though that the Bracknell/Wokingham exit (J10) to J11 sections are still slated for closure over the 2 following weekends (8/9 Oct and 15/16 Oct). Update- Notice on the club website from Midday today states:- The road works which were due to shut the M4 between junctions 12 and 11 for the entire weekend have been suspended from 6am and 10pm on matchday by National Highways. However, allow more time for travel as one lane will be closed, also roads are likely to be busier than usual as over 4000 tickets have sold to schools and clubs.

The fixtures away have not been kind for Town in the early part of the season (esp. midweek), not sure if they will travel separately to both Reading & Luton or stay down an extra couple of nights, any return of points would be a bonus but Town fans will primarily be watching for performances.....individual & team.

Who was the last Town manager to win his first game in charge? Grayson All the others since, including Hudson as caretaker, lost their first two, I think, apart from Powell who, having lost at home to Boro, managed a 0-0 home draw with Wigan, where we were hanging on at the end, timewasting shamelessly. Robins threw away the 5th round home cup-tie with Wigan to allow most of the first team to rest, so that they'd be fresh for his first league game at Forest, where we started well at least.

I think people might be surprised those players need the building of confidence we have seen glimmers of decent stuff but that’s all . We can stay up and that’s all that matters I wouldn’t be surprised by a Town win ...on the other hand I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Town heavy loss , this is where we stand on expectations until we see what this new coach brings in identity tactics defensive press and shape etc etc so let’s give him a chance he’s owed that ! It’s an uninspiring appointment and a shit show all round from the end of last season and that playoff no show that’s not up for debate , but let’s do the Town thing the Yorkshire thing and cheer this team to victory against Reading UTT

Pfft! Hurricane? They obviously don't remember 1987. Garden ornaments smashed, shed rooves flying everywhere, even some very old trees blown down. Hurricane? Pffft!

I've never particularly taken to Paul Ince, always came across as a bit of a fraud tbh so I'm hoping for a win for that reason as well as we need the points. Having said that I wouldn't bet against Ince jr scoring against us.

The amount of times Tom was unlucky, hitting the post, hitting the bar, fantastic saves, etc it's an absolute given that he'll score against us! Thought he was much better than a lot gave him credit for and VERY unlucky with the shots he had.

Fully agree-he ran his nuts off for us that stay up season but was just a little short of true PL quality - bought for 3 million, sold for 10m - never moaned either or got injured -and we got Diakhoby/Mbenza to replace him - enough said Let’s hope he stays unlucky on Saturday

James Vaughan put us ahead very early on.

Such a massive disappointment because he always looked excellent against us when playing for Blackpool, Hull and Derby. And yes, he usually scored at least once back then.
