The amount of times Tom was unlucky, hitting the post, hitting the bar, fantastic saves, etc it's an absolute given that he'll score against us! Thought he was much better than a lot gave him credit for and VERY unlucky with the shots he had. No, he really was crap when with us. Such a massive disappointment because he always looked excellent against us when playing for Blackpool, Hull and Derby. And yes, he usually scored at least once back then. Little harsh. Maybe didn't set the world alight, but that squad for our 1st season in the prem was full of effort and work rate. Ince was very unlucky with woodwork, was it 8 times throughout the season he hit it?

I'd have to disagree, thought he was one of our better players and if just a couple of those post or bar hits had gone in his time here would be viewed very differently. I don't think i ever saw him play crap. Average sometimes, but never crap. But it would be a pretty boring and empty forum if we all agreed on everything.

With that small gap in quality really showing in the Premier League.

Think he was a player hampered by his surname- there were always accusations that he was only where he was because of who his dad is, but if he'd been called Tom Smith there probably wouldn't have been so much pressure and expectation on him. A big name is a double-edged sword.

He was better than diakhaby and mbenza. So the 10 million we got for him for him was replaced with 20 million pounds worth of absolute garbage. Pritchard didn’t he cost 10 million as well ?He was unlucky and if he was in a town shirt still it would work for me.
Hope he does well for his dad but not on Saturday.

First town game I ever watched was in 1988 v Reading. We lost 2-0.
The day my daughter was born, we played Reading and lost 5-2.
The day before my 40th birthday we lost 1-0 to Reading.
I got married last weekend.
Sorry.

Apparently 4 seats left on the bodsquad bus. It’s picking up in hudds too. £30
Match day tickets good value at Reading if anyone fancies

I've never particularly taken to Paul Ince, always came across as a bit of a fraud tbh so I'm hoping for a win for that reason as well as we need the points. Having said that I wouldn't bet against Ince jr scoring against us. The amount of times Tom was unlucky, hitting the post, hitting the bar, fantastic saves, etc it's an absolute given that he'll score against us! Thought he was much better than a lot gave him credit for and VERY unlucky with the shots he had. I always thought he was unlucky not to get 7 or 8 goals in the Premier League for us.

Very impressive pre match comments from Mark. None of this “win together lose together “ bullshit.
We are here to work and not make friends. Love that.

Best of luck to the new manager, let's hope this is the start of something good and we can go on to have a decent season but if we get beat don't come on here with the 'told you so' bollox let's give the new guy a chance, we are not overnight going to become a great team. UTT

Having said that I wouldn't bet against Ince jr scoring against us. I can understand people not taking to his personality, at least whilst he was a player, but a bit of a fraud? He was a very good player and deserved to get where he got. His mnagerial career hasn't been spectacular, but he started lower down the leagues, unlike similar quality ex players, and hasn't exactly been getting gigs that smack of a big name player clearly getting an unwarrented job.

You are forgetting the loan fees we received from the Egyptians. Yes, we pretty much got our money back there but, nevertheless, Stoke must have been laughing themselves silly that they effectively got Ince for £5m.

Yeah, but Bassingham you said Ince was shit so we obviously STILL had their pants down at £5m didn't we?

We don't employ him to talk, but I was impressed by his pre match presser. Said the right things without seeming like he was pandering or showing off. Holmes mentioning the sessions are more intense and regular, reminds me of when Wagner started. A win or draw would be great but I'd be equally happy with a Middlesbrough home 2015 type performance.
