An Aussie! He’s a combative box to box with plenty of energy. He’s done ok in the A League without being a standout so don’t expect a classy Mooy. His start to life in the Scottish Premiership has been really good and he’s a huge part in St Mirren being 4th in the league.
I’m not sure whether he’s good enough or not for this level. If we are looking at Baccus I’d be looking at Devlin from Hearts, but he’d be the more expensive option. Still think we should have been after Dylan Levitt in the summer who was available for a steal.

Mooy had a cracker of a season before he came to Huddersfield. Think he broke the assist record by some way and also scored a few. Edit: just googled 26 starts, 11 goals and 10 assists. It was the combination of goals/assists that he broke the record for. Mooy was getting individual coverage in the prime time media down here, which is usually reserved for our foreign stars when they score or win trophies. |

Good to know Convictatthemac . Although I think it would be inevitable he'd get kudos down under. I'm not sure it was highlighted as much in England, maybe it was in Scotland I don't know. But even if he was I think that one season tearing up the SPL (was it St Mirren he was at, not even one of the big clubs?) isn't exactly standout in the grand scheme of things. I just remember never hearing of him and then being astounded when I saw him play. Obviously I'd love it if Baccus has the same impact as "non-standout" Mooy Edit: Just to point out I'm not devaluing Sir Aaron of Mooy in any way shape or form; more I'm hoping another "unknown" Aussie can come here and have an immense impact. |

Yeah I know you aren’t devaluing Mooy. A good article from his Bolton manager that spoke of how good Mooy was but needed to work more off the ball www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/20291745.amp/It seems a recurring thing with the Aussies, not really of their own making but we have such a short season, only 26 games (including finals and that’s if you make it) compared to the 40-50 games a year in Europe. A good highlight for that was when Hearts midfielder Cam Devlin came into the national team set up and the manager noticed that Devlin now has tree trunks for legs which he previously didn’t. It’s just the miles that need put into some of these guys to then realise what’s needed to get to the top. |

I forget the name of the Algerian lad we signed on a free halfway through the season about 7 or 8 years ago. He wasn't fantastic but gave the team a bit of spark and creativity that had been massively lacking. Surely there's a half-decent midfielder knocking about without a club over in France/Spain/Germany we would bring in over the World Cup break......

I forget the name of the Algerian lad we signed on a free halfway through the season about 7 or 8 years ago. He wasn't fantastic but gave the team a bit of spark and creativity that had been massively lacking. I recall hoyle and bromby saying now we cant bring players in from Europe now with like you say because of brexit and the rule changes that we would be looking to the Brazilian market we got rumoured with regarding to 1 or 2 players but i see that never materialised, good old town saying we was getting some Brazilian flare, where are they then ? probably just made it up knowing hoyle and bromby! |

Was excellent last night for Australia. He came on in the 2nd half and really helped break up the play and also drove the team forward. I’ve said many a time I’m a fan of Cam Devlin at Hearts, but I think Baccus is becoming as good a footballer if not better. Both very similar players.
