He was a CM at one point and converted to a full back Maybe we try him there with an eye for a goal.

Luck or genius? From watching the replay it didn't appear at any point that he'd looked and knew the keeper was off his line.

I dont rate him as a player but well done to him. probably a lot of luck involved in the winner in that he probably realised the keeper was off his line but to find that very small gap where it would go under the bar and over the keeper when you've got your back to goal is largely down to good fortune. But if you dont buy a ticket you dont win the raffle, as the saying goes,.

I'm just gonna say it. Zlatan-esque. Genius. Meant it 100% IMO. You don't have to physically look to know where people are. He sensed it and he went for it. Top class instincts. Take a bow, son.

Can't be surprised you didn't rate the winner as it wasn't even as far out as Ibrahimovic's all those years ago against England, a goal you yourself would have scored π

Just watched his post match interview from last night seems like a really good lad to have in the squad.

Disagree on it been good fortune for me thats a deflection or goal keeper error etc, he will have had a picture in his head where the keeper was even with his back to goal. I think his defensive instincts maybe played a part in that it was a bad place to lose the ball and concede a counter attack, if it goes over the bar it isnβt really a bad thing. Two brilliant finishes from him last night and I remember a few occasions in the past when heβs been unlucky not to score with really good strikes.

He had an open goal to hit, whereas Ruffels had to go through a very small gap between keeper and bar for it to go in.

Suppose I mean luck like it is when you get a hole in one at golf. You have to have the ability to hit it so its in the right ball park of course, but after that whether it actually goes in that tiny little hole or not is down to fortune really.

His opener was a bit of a cracker too. Same chance taken by most of the rest of the team on show and its skied high/wide or is a pea-roller that just stops in the crowd.

Good technique for both goals.

JAB Ruffels may have struggled in the few games he has played for Town. With a bit of luck he could be like Turton was last season and make progress after a difficult start and becoming a solid player.

Like Ollie Turton, another who was slagged off, you know who you are.

Thought Ruffles played well, two good finishes aside, he is there to defend first. Get 11 doing well what they are there to do and the bonuses like last night win you the game. His 2 goals would have been lost had we conceeded 3?

In the few appearances he has made for is there have been quite a number of times where he has put in decent efforts on goal. He has something about him, he has footballing ability and definitely has goals in him.

Nakayama's was lucky. This was not.

Maybe this just shows how long it can take to adjust to the Championship when you come from Leagues 1 or 2?

Pete or Admins... It's Ruffels, not Ruffles. Can we have the thread title amended, please?
Do you think that we might please learn to spell the names of our own players? It's both disrespectful and embarrassing. I sometimes think that we should have a drop-down list for the illetrati to use.
And yes, I'm aware that this post may well ruffle a few feathers. Pun intended.

Only this has been a problem since at least the days when we had Peter Clark in defence & Lee Clarke was our manager. Thankfully we've never had anyone with a name that was seriously difficult to spell.
