A thread to highlight WC players who might be potential transfer targets for Town. Diamonds in the rough, previously unknowns, young starlets playing in obscure foreign leagues. Most likely not that many as pretty much any decent prospect gets gobbled up by the big guns at an early age these days. Try to keep it realistic (well, reasonably so). I'll start it off with Kanno the big lad in the middle for the Saudis. A wiry, mobile John Russell or a poor man's Phil Billing - take your pick.

Cho for South Korea up front looked pretty good at hold up and getting on the end of crosses. Couple good goals yesterday and plays in the Korean league so not unrealistic.

I intended to look him up after his performance yesterday, I thought he looked very dangerous. If he is still playing in Korea, I'd be amazed if he hasn't earned himself a decent contract in Europe.

I don't know too much about the K league but 13 goals in 23 games for a relagted team isn't terrible. He looked good against Ghana I think a few clubs will be watching him

Brighton have done very well out of Ecuador. In the same vein, there's probably value for money for the Championship in the Costa Rica squad (I think Bennett plays for Sunderland?).
I'd be interested in both Takuma Asano (Bochum) and definitely Shuto Machino (not that I think the latter is probably realistic given his club form) from Japan.
Anis Slimane (Tunisia) interested me the odd time I saw him at Brondby. Not likely we would pay the fee though.
Get Marou Souaibou (Cameroon) on a plane. Raw talent. Gotta be worth a gamble.

Any or all of the Costa Rica squad would be perfect fits. Risk averse. Defend deep. At 6s and 7s at the back. Goalkeeper keeping the score respectable. Midfielders can't pass it for toffee. Hopeless in attack. One shot on goal in 2½ games. One goal scored.
Are they HTAFC in disguise? 😉

We couldn't afford a player off Qatar's bench.
