Love Matty P - gives 100% every match. Not the world's best passer of the ball but IT SHOULDN'T BE HIS JOB. The number of times he gets the ball, looks up, and there's not a soul anywhere near him to pass it to. He HAS to welly it up the field (for, today,Bojan or Berzorg to get beaten in the air). Where the hell are our midfield players coming back to receive the ball and take responsibility ? If, for example, Kasumu isn't hiding he invariably gets the ball from our central defenders AND IMMEDIATELY PASSES IT BACK TO THEM. If he does attempt a forward pass, it invariably goes to the opposition. Matty P also scores, or causes, some of our goals. Matos,Kasumu etc don't. Got to agree when he's in a back 4 able to do his job ,defend, there are not many better in this league yes he is limited in other areas but aa said others should be taking it from him, this is where we miss an O'brien type player who can get the ball from him on the half turn and advance positively rather than panic and pass it back to him to then have to lump it. We really don't help ourselves at times. Kasumu can take it on the half turn, drive past a couple of players then give it away, just like O'Brien used to.

Players off the ball also have a responsibility to put themselves in a safe position to receive the ball. The movement off the ball is very lacking in most of our players. Address that and the successful pass rate would certainly improve. I find it frustrating that a player with the ball and without any threat then passes to a player who has an opponent breathing down their neck. Common sense and wise decision making seems lacking in a lot of our players at times.

Matos is surprisingly poor on the ball for someone who had made it on to Chelsea's bench.
Fantastic off the ball, can't remember many who can win it back like he can but in possession he needs to improve massively

Every time our defenders had the ball the only pass available was sideways or backwards.

The ball playing at the back has to firstly aim get the ball wide asap, ie the full backs. Keeper is the most dangerous person to get caught with it or charged down, followed by the centre backs and the deepest midfielder. We have to aim be able to get the ball in our possession to the halfway line or beyond. We should aim, if we are going to play out, to do it quicker, from getting the ball back and taking the goal kick to moving the ball away from our goal. There are to be NO stupid goals conceeded between now and May. The very idea that we must pull the opposition onto our goal at goal kicks and then silky skill our way forward fills me with dread every single time.

Pearson took a straight arm to the head (at least, maybe even a punch) from Cooper at 96m14s Ref played on and blew for a lesser foul about 2 seconds later.

We all know his passing is limited. But you could not wish to have a more wholehearted and committed defender, who’s also a danger at set pieces. Just the type of player we need when we are in a relegation dogfight.

Reminds me a lot of Peter Clarke. What he lacks in technique he makes up for in heart.

Just the type of player we need when we are in a relegation dogfight. Hes a warrior and a winner, exactly what you need in this situation and always a massive threat at set pieces as we saw yesterday!!
