Admins - please don't delete me too soon, I am here for constructive comments!! Do we need a sub board just for 'Transfer Rumours'? Can we instead maybe have that renamed 'Transfers' and have rumours, actual transfers and anything transfer related just on that board? It seems strange to have that just for 'rumours' and then to migrate 'signed' stories to the main board. Better still, just have transfers all in the TOTT board (but seems admins are not up for that)

Constructive comments always welcome. In actual fact we the admins discussed this just the other day (again). Its a split decision, 2 wish to leave it as it is, one wanted some minor change. You can see there are 172 threads in the Transfer Rumors sub board. We definitely do not want those in TOTT until they become signed players as it stifles the natural flow of the board and drives good threads off the first page which are then forgotten - so a new one is created some time later on the same topic. That said, we monitor the ebb and flow - I know you do not like the current situation R76, but there are plenty that do.

I do think at least having the 'January Transfer' (that is by far the most popular) as a sticky would make sense.....but again, I think all or nothing maybe best (all on one or the other board)

I LOVE DATM and spend WAY too much time on here and just want it to be the best it can be....it is a really minor issue but it just bugs me that it is not ideal.......I also think (shoot me down) if we can justify a board for transfer rumours, why not have the 'matchday' threads all on a sub board?? - they could be set up well in advance and then all in one place for reference, that could work...........

The transfer sub thread is useful as we always get lots of spurious 'ITK' posts and it keeps them in a seperate place. It is also only active twice a year, and it is pretty active at those times. Keep it where it is for me and people who are only interested in actual signings can steer clear.

And that's in the middle of a transfer window, I wouldn't say that's going to stifle the main board. I didn't see any point in the separate board, it's all Town talk so should all be on the one board. Whilst it doesn't make a difference to me as I've recently bookmarked the recent threads URL as the DATM page, there are plenty that clearly aren't aware of the separate board. Every transfer window people post on the main board without knowing about the separate transfer one. Not everyone reads the site as frequently to know it exists.

I think that somewhere we should have a set of instructions for new joiners - How to use this Board so to speak. When I have some spare time I may write something up.

Maybe keep the transfer rumour sub-board running but pin a transfer window thread on the main board until it closes?

If only we were under a transfer embargo like a number of other clubs. That way we don’t have to slag off players we signed before we have actually seen them play!

Am I missing something here?
when using phone I use the navigation tool bar to go to recent threads. Simple. If I want to see TOTT I have to go to the home page, where I can click on TOTT or the Transfer Rumor boards. Both these choices take the exact amount of time and are selected in the same view.
when Using laptop the site opens up and I can go to TOTT or Transfer Rumors same as I can for the Prediction League or Off Topic or any of the other boards.
To be honest in both cases I always use recent threads - I will sometimes go to the Transfer Rumor board, but only around window time. What's the big beef?

I also visit DATM via the "Recent Threads" route, but regularly find myself resenting the wasted time I spend sifting through the thread titles to identify the football vs non-football ones and, more problematically, clicking into threads I already know I'm not interested in out of nosiness and the draw of the 'new' flag!
I appreciate the original decision to partition off the transfer discussion was made in an effort to reduce clutter, but, as someone who is primarily here for the HTAFC content, the move has actually had the opposite effect on my experience of DATM.
I'm less clear why the decision was then made to move it from the initial TOTT sub-board to an entirely separate section of the site. If there's a determination to retain a separate area for transfer discussion, for me a TOTT sub-board would be the lesser of two evils.

Transfer threads back on the main board would be so much better for the flow of datm. Weird that Transfers jump onto the main board when completed, just have everything on the main board. Easy. Transfer based posts should have never been tinkered with in the first place and the majority of posters wanted it to stay on the main board. Probably still the case.

Have to admit it does feel a little bit disorganised shall we say, to move a player thread to the main board once they sign.
However, it’s your forum folks. Have your say as Keith has advised. I don’t think a vote or poll is needed really, but checking the temperature of the mood never harms.

Transfers on the main board is my preference - if Town related.

The bottom message thread on TOTT is around 5 days ago but in TR page it’s July……I don’t think we need to worry about the flow of the board……

Obviously people use use the board differently, I use phone and enter threads via home page. The rumours board is definitely needed and in my opinion works well. I can see runners points about having a stickie thread on the main board during the summer/ Jan windows, then at end of the windows just move them back to the rumours board. Run the summer thread from end of season until end of August, then the Jan window throughout January on the main board.

If the board stays put then I would be advocating changing the name to ‘Transfers’ only and leaving ALL confirmed business in and out on that board, no further moves to the main board. That’s where it gets messy IMHO..

That’s where it gets messy IMHO.. All that will happen is that as soon as a rumour becomes a signing someone will start a thread on the main board, so we'll end up with more than one thread on the same player. I vote (even though there isnt one) to leave things as they are. As an aside, this year I'm going to watch everything on TV in 1080p. That's my New Years resolution. UTT

UTT I would go 4K....... anyway, back to the point. This is my thing, the fact that it is just 'rumours' and then things end up on the main board anyway means it is, to me, just half a board and exactly why we should just have it on the main TOTT board. When you look at the 'recent Threads' as a filter, most are not transfer related, it is not like we are awash with millions of topics and chats just on transfer rumours. Wheat will stay at the top and chaff will soon go to the bottom.
