Stadium packed to the rafters for the Muse concert.must have been 35000 there I reckon.. would post a photo but never mastered that on my mobile. Nagle will no doubt have noted the potential...the stage looked phenomenal and I can see now why there's temporary seating there..

For a million quid I couldn't tell you the name of any Muse song...which is odd for a stadium band. Looked a busy do though. In the same way I'd struggle to name an Ed Sheeran song and he, somehow, sells millions most overrated busker in the world. (I say that and I like his stuff!)

I can't understand that at all. Download festival my phone stayed in my (zipped and chained) pocket throughout. And not just because I thought it might get damaged in the pit. I'm there to watch the bands, not record them. Especially nowadays when every single concert is put on YouTube at some point. Its become another bad habit, you must have your own record of being there. You must have a full record of being there and how 'good' a time you had, for others to see? I guess we bought videos and dvds of concerts we had been to before?? I could not be arsed to hold a phone up for 2 hours to be honest, I might if what I was witnessing a life changing event? Seen concerts where the amount of light coming from the crowd competes with the stage lighting and affects the overall experience. Used to be a thing where you'd hunt down bootleg recordings of gigs you'd been at.

Giving Royal Blood more stagetime would've meant me spending more money in a bar 🤔. The "posh, entitled wankers"(copyright HIGNFY) At £7 for a pint of Fosters that would be an expensive bar bill as well I knew what they were charging last year at Green Day, we went to the Rat then through the uni to Smile. Although the youngest did go for a Castle Hill gin in Smile and they were charging £8 for it 😖

You could buy them at that little record shop at the bottom of King St. I got the JAMC at St George's Hall (I WAS at the gig), The Mission in Edinburgh and the Sisters of Mercy in Amsterdam.

Or just add some of their high-energy songs. Stockholm Syndrome, New Born, Assassin, Butterflies & Hurricanes would all go down well + are popular enough that most people should know them. My mate gave me the play list (below) and you can easily see where you could switch some of those tracks in for stuff where I agree it's not really working Intro: Chant Play Video Will of the People Play Video Interlude Play Video Hysteria Play Video [Drill Sergeant] Play Video Psycho Play Video Thought Contagion Play Video Won't Stand Down Play Video Kill or Be Killed (Felsmann + Tiley Reinterpretation) Play Video Compliance Play Video Interstitial 'Parkour' Play Video Time Is Running Out Play Video You Make Me Feel Like It's Halloween (Bach's 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor' intro) Play Video Madness Play Video We Are Fucking Fucked Play Video The 2nd Law: Isolated System Play Video Supermassive Black Hole Play Video Interstitial 'Driving' Play Video Plug In Baby Play Video Behold, the Glove (Matt Bellamy song) Play Video Uprising Play Video Prelude Play Video Starlight Play Video Encore: Kill or Be Killed Play Video Knights of Cydonia (Ennio Morricone's 'Man With A Harmonica' intro) No wonder it was a bit flat if they did 'Play Video' after every other song. Don't know that one, were they plugging a new single?

I don't like Queensryche at all but I listen to that album with regularity.

The amount of phones on the 2nd photo. I was there last night, the guy next to me recorded every song with a GoPro and showed no emotion through the whole performance. Bloke in front of me did exactly the same with his phone. He’ll have gone home and realised he’s got me signing out of tune to the whole gig. It’s live music, just enjoy it.

Of course it was going to be a bit flat if you hold a major music event in a semi derelict stadium in need of major refurbishment in a shit hole of a northern town that nobody has ever heard of. Mr Nagle needs to get out and about to look at fine PL stadiums in fashionable towns. I’ve already sent him directions of how to get to Luton!

Although I have been calling it the 'fuckerty fuck fuck song' 🤣. We had a great night, although we did spend a fortune on a box for 10 of us. It's going to be hard going back to 'sluming it' at the next concert.

In between topics sort of….. stadium and new owners
So the council passed the idea of HTAFC running the stadium and costs for getting total income from it day to day use before Christmas. Now 6 month on reading the examiner it sounds as far away as ever. Why does it take so long to get things done in this town. The stadium is supposed to be close to bankruptcy but it just seems to plod along getting in a worse state of repair.

Ahh Muse, local boys from the vague area I'm relocating to. Nothing particularly against them but one of those that were recommended to me early in their careers but I just couldn't get into despite them being broadly from the types of genres I like. Radiohead are another prime example. Leave me absolutely cold. Hope everyone had a good night at JSS though.

Actually glad to see the stadium being used for a concert again. I was at the REM concert back in the day which was a great concert and a good lineup. Felt like it was a unique venue back then and there was a good atmosphere in there for a concert Has not been used enough for these things over the years.

Haven't Beautiful South played there more than once? I'm sure I remember them appearing with REM and then again as headliners? Also, when they HAVE staged concerts, it doesn't seem to be advertised as much as gigs at the O2 in L***s or other local venues.

Bon Jovi was a great gig, back in 2001. Like em or not (they were great back then, a parody of themselves now) that was a tremendous coup to get them at the Mac, likewise Eagles and REM. Back in the late 00s we had underpromoted, sub capacity shows from Bryan Adams (not the 1996 peak popularity one) and also Elton John, on one of his regular summer tours of lower league stadiums. Think we pulled in about 10000 for those, with the stage side on facing the kilner.

Worked very well with the runway down the pitch last night as most of the crowd on the pitch were close to the band.
Can imagine it is a crap venue if not full so 1 or 2 big artists a year would be the best way to approach it rather than more smaller gigs. The last two gigs have been perfect.
The set up in the car park behind the south stand (toilets, bar and food) and access onto the pitch also worked well.

Paul Heaton (one of the good guys and well worth seeing) opened up with an Oasis song but can’t remember which.
