Lots of criticism last year at the Green Day gig re safety, not seen anything from last night so presume they took it on board and sorted it. From the pictures looked like there were more there last night than Green Day as well.

They didn’t play Muscle museum. There’s the reason why I didn’t go.

Stadium packed to the rafters for the Muse concert.must have been 35000 there I reckon.. would post a photo but never mastered that on my mobile. Nagle will no doubt have noted the potential...the stage looked phenomenal and I can see now why there's temporary seating there.. View AttachmentStadium has done well in recent years with the calibre of its acts (not accounting for personal taste). I think it's now firmly entrenched in the "2nd tier" of stadium venues behind Etihad, Old Trafford etc. Saw Muse at Glastonbury in 2010 and they were amazing. Couldn't make last night but looks good! It was very good. The band's, the stage and effects, and the whole set up was as good as anywhere I've been. Hopefully another big concert next year.

if you can be arsed to watch this noise - Crowd seem less excited than when Tim Robinson misses a clear offside.

What struck me was the difference in atmosphere between one of the biggest bands in the world playing live at the stadium and a second tier football match. I'd better say before the usual suspects comment that the footy atmosphere is far better..

Actually glad to see the stadium being used for a concert again. I was at the REM concert back in the day which was a great concert and a good lineup. Felt like it was a unique venue back then and there was a good atmosphere in there for a concert Has not been used enough for these things over the years.100% Especially given the positive reviews from ages ago with the likes of Eagles, Bon Jovi and Beautiful South who all gave it rave reviews. Haven't Beautiful South played there more than once? I'm sure I remember them appearing with REM and then again as headliners? Also, when they HAVE staged concerts, it doesn't seem to be advertised as much as gigs at the O2 in L***s or other local venues. Yeah, they've headlined it and played both nights with REM. Although Oasis were supposed to be the support on the first night, luckily they decided they were too big to be a support after a couple of minor hits.

Beautiful South were part of the lineup with REM but also did their own concert later. Went to both, my brother was into the beautiful south Beautiful South replaced Oasis who had just made it big and felt they were too grand for little old Huddersfield. Paul Heaton (one of the good guys and well worth seeing) opened up with an Oasis song but can’t remember which. It was the recently released Some Might Say & went down a treat with the many in the crowd who were only really there to see Oasis.

I think we need a takeover. 113 pages, you don’t say… 😉 It’s off season, this thread will soon right itself when the deal is finalised. Then we can go back to moaning about the investment plans…

From what I remember of the time, when the 2nd night was announced with the Beautiful South as support most people were trying to change their tickets to that night because of the support. I know I was. The delight when Oasis pulled out was immense.

I also took the Pepsi challenge that day and I'm still waiting for my free cans of pepsi.

if you can be arsed to watch this noise - Wow, horses for courses and all that, but that seems like a tediously boring night out. Would choose my evening of a couple bottles of Bread & Butter and chilling outside with dog, daughter and missus and a quiet background layer of old Magnum and Gary Moore tracks any day of the week.

I went to the Beautiful South gig with a friend but we were there mainly to see The Lightening Seeds and Cast who supported. I seem to recall a bit of handbags between the two groups that led to one walking off stage before returning a short time later. So glad I went to that gig.

Pretty sure all the phones in the picture will be from when the band asked everyone to hold their phones up, though there will inevitably be a load of idiots who filmed the whole show.

Just to add that we were stood on the pitch towards the Riverside stand, and the light show coupled with the backdrop of the woods on kilner bank looked phenomenal. What a place 💙

To move this back on topic away from us sad, older people relieving our musical 'youth', what is taking so long for this to be confirmed? Does anyone know??
