I dunno, this is one of those theories that gets thrown around at the tail end of every season and I'm not sure has ever materialised in our favour. If anything, if they're promoted by then then the pressure is off and they'll have some fun with us. Or alternatively they fluke a win v Man C in the SF, they clinch promotion & rest their first team for the last 2 games of the season? I’m still taking the tablets… I'll have some of those tablets......!

3 - 0 Sunderland, predictable, manager knows our tactics, we defend for 90 mins and they have on of attacking.

Lets hope that it’s just a wee bit lopsided on the way home with - Won 7, Drawn 7, Lost 8. Goals for 30, Goals against 31... That’d be just fine n’ dandy ! 😊

Wow how the mood is dramatically changing after a draw with Blackburn and a deflected goal loss at Swansea!

Has that been forgotten now...and has that ball come back into Earths' orbit yet... I'm not sure what you mean - what's the relevance to the upcoming game?

only won one of their last 7 home games..including a thumping by Stoke and a 4-4 with Hull...ripe for a good plucking... They can ship goals and it’s a pretty makeshift defence at the minute, missing a recognised LB & down to one recognised first team CB. Missing any proper CF and played Pritchard as most forward player on Saturday, but he hobbled away at the end so not sure how fit he is for this. They’ve got some great creative players when it clicks in Roberts, Amad, Clarke but it can be all a bit tippy tappy trying to walk it in. Created, but missed, bucket loads against Cardiff last Monday and scraped a 1-0. Stadium of Light when it’s going well is a great home atmosphere, but it soon turns a bit toxic if it’s not going to plan…Town need to try and make that happen. Real opportunity to take something from this, and I’ve a season ticket there with my mackem wife and two lads so a cheeky win would be lovely 🙌🏻

MND awareness raised thousands of pounds at a recent game between Bristol Rovers & Ipswich Town, Marcus Stewart was a great servant for those two clubs & likewise for Town & Sunderland where he played over 100 games for both teams, dig deep if you see any collectors.......Their is only 'one Marcus Stewart'..UTT.

I'm responding to your reply to sociallydistant's comment about Sheffield United being on the beach... But what does the PO final have to do with them potentially being on the beach after promotion? I think he means they'll want revenge. I can't see it myself. There's no controversy, no rivalry or anything that I'm aware of. 11 years have passed since a fairly uncontroversial win between two sides that showed mutual respect even at the time. Plus, I don't think any of their players on that day are still at the club. I still don't think they'll be on the beach though.

Anyone know who the Sunderland player that's injured? Mowbray wouldn't reveal who it was in their presser saying 'Neil will be watching'.

Sunderland have had a really good season and they have surprised me. Can't say I've watched much of them this season but they don't seem to struggle to score. When they came to our place earlier on in the season I didn't think they looked that great. Piss poor weak defending from Town cost us that game. But Sunderland must have improved alot since then.
If they are to climb above the three or four other teams that are in that pack chasing the last place in the playoffs then they'll be looking at tonight as essential three points.
I think that they'll get it too but if we can keep it tight first half then the chances are that they'll start push further forward and potentially leave some gaps for us to exploit.
Be another one where our possession is under 35% and not many completed passes but the system has worked more than it's failed recently and don't see any other way of going to Sunderland and getting anything unless we go with that tactic. It's too late now to try something new and we aren't good enough to do it any other way.

Mowbray mentioned about Town, 'they can lull you into false confidence & hit you quickly on the break'......Kind of like your team did at JS in November?

I've accepted that it's going to be decided on the Cardiff and Reading games now, which are essentially a lottery like the playoffs. Can't see anything from this or Sheff U - any points would be a huge bonus. Whilst we can't rely on a promoted Sheff Utd being "on the beach", there's every chance their intensity will drop as they'll have nothing to play for. If we are determined to win those 50/50s and put in the effort I'm sure that they won't be up to the same level. Hopefully still nursing a hangover.

Had a dream last night Matty Pearson scored the winner again...he couldnt, could he? Tonight is massive, I fear for us if we lose, 2 huge crunch games to come and Sheffield Utd Need a result tonight to keep the dream alive.

A loss wont be the end of the world providing the other teams around us loose and we dont concede many goals.
Dont think anybody expects anything here as they have promotion in mind .
Still think we will get a point at Cardiff 3 points v Reading and hope Sheff utd are promoted and on the beach by the time we play them

season defining game tonight imo. Lose and I think we're going down. I thought Swansea was the one we should have targeted as a "must win" They have nowt to play for and not that good think opportunity missed But we go on, hoping for a positive result I'd take a draw.
