It's also hard to initiate a high press with man marking, not with the right players but when Pearson and Lees find themselves furthest forward why would they engage and chase United's centre halves down? Rode our luck but defended well, if it's 0-0 at the end we should all be happy shouldn't we

You can accept being second best technically but they're out working us which is unforgivable I wouldn't class it as out-working. If we commit for some of these half-balls we risk not being caught out of position from the counter pressing and going into the battle rather than keeping a shape and standing off in some 50/50s. |

I have to be honest. I dont think I would have set out like this to play for a point, as over 90 minutes, as we saw against Swansea, its incredibly tough, as it just takes 1 moment. However its 45 minutes job done, and would I take another 45 minutes like that. Absolutely I would. We really do need to have a few attacks and shots though, and there are some occasions where we have to respect possession a bit better. I am not talking about dominating possession, but when we have it in our own half with no pressure on, there is nothing wrong with playing balls around. I am also surprised only 1 minute added on. The injury was more than that, then you have Nicholls and the crowd playing keep ball. Hopefully at the end of 90 if its 0-0 he adds a minute on again  |

Few months ago I thought we were gone, The points NW has managed to get out of this side is unreal.
If someone had said to me months ago you can secure survival with a game to go but the performances will be a bit blahhh, I'd have snapped my own arm off, never mind anyone else's.
This is a tough game but we are nearly there.
Just hope we can do it tonight.

This has been the Warnock way for most games since our good form started. Keep it tight first half, have a 15/20 minute blitz early second half, keep it tight last 20.
I dont doubt the maestro whatever he has planned.

No lack of effort there for me just a bit too nervy on the ball, if we can settle a bit more at half time and start to find some better forward balls the tide could turn. Also I don’t think the slick wet pitch is helping us.
Ps can we stop posting links just to shut Suggy up. We’ve gone from him bragging that he watches for free every week to constant requests for help, without even a fucking please.

This has been done to death ... but - we'd go down on goal difference in the event of two 1-0 defeats. Because as well as adding one to Reading's goal difference, it'd subtract one from ours, thus that 1-0 defeat alone making a difference of 2 to the goal difference. Anyway, we're getting at least a point tonight, so irrelevant! |
