It's a fair point. If they've got some clever folk at the club in the decision making seats they might be able to get relegated properly in a good financial footing. I think a lot of fans from the Championship and lower will hope they can make a decent job of it. It’s unfortunate that a club doesn’t even get 24 hours grace before all the negative people get a grip and inform everyone of Luton’s certain relegation next season. It’s not certain at all - nothing is ever certain in football and the fans will look forward to next season with hope, pride and excitement. Don’t take away the dream - it’s what drives us football supporters forward.

Will Ben Barclay be a big loss today, I wonder?

I've said in a previous post I think they'll survive the first season and hope when they do drop they do it in the right way, unlike some clubs. I'm happy for Luton hoped they'd make it this time.

Odd fact we have the honour of being only team from 1922 playoffs not in premier league But in our defence we were busy winning the FA Cup that year. 🙂

Some people never learn do they, tbf though some of the replies fron massive fans do actually acknowledge they'd need quite a few new players.

Former town academy lad Fraser Horsfall starts for Stockport. Aaron Rowe doesn't make the bench.

Former town academy lad Fraser Horsfall starts for Stockport. Aaron Rowe doesn't make the bench. He's barely made any appearances for them. IIRC he has a year left on his contract. I hope he spends this summer really reflecting on what he wants from his career. He has the talent to play at this level if he works hard. He has the talent to tear that division a new arsehole. Yet he's not even on the bench. There have been rumours for some time about a lack of professionalism on his part. I'm always sceptical about rumours - particularly of that nature - but it does seem to fit. I had thought it would be a waste of his talent to be bobbing around the 4th division but it's starting to look like he might not even get that. Such a shame.

Stockport should be 2 up there. Wonder if that miss will come back to haunt them.

Good to see Luton in the Prem, I think they'll survive by the skin of their teeth in the first season and drop the next. Not often you get new teams at the top flight they've done great. Were you born post-92

Were you born post-92 Funnily enough, Luton seem to have forgotten too. They tweeted about being the first team to go from non league to the premier league. I seem to recall Wigan and the old Wimbledon doing it too.

If you asked a group of fans who has won most titles..Tottenham or Huddersfield, i reckon most would say Tottenham, 'back in the day' is last week to some.

It’s not just fans who suffer from “selective “ memory.
We always get ignored by the press as well.
Example in todays paper discussing Tom Ince. “The former Blackpool, Derby and Stoke player”
He played for us in the Premier League for gods sake.

Perhaps they meant in the PL era. I’m quite sure they did but it’s being disrespectful to the other clubs. In fact, the other clubs were actually non league teams (I think). Luton had dropped out of the league and into non league. It is a great achievement from them, but come on Luton have a bit of respect.

Not surprised by the original, ridiculous, tweet but very happily surprised by lots of Wednesday fans' replies to him.

I seem to recall Wigan and the old Wimbledon doing it too. The remarkable thing about Luton's story is that they were relegated from the top-flight just before the PL started, then went all the way to non-league and back again. Doesn't quite fit into a tweet as well though.

Weren’t Oldham athletic the same? I believe so Oldham Athletic played in the PL, and were the first (and so far only) ex PL team to drop out of the league. Notts County missed out on the PL by a year or two, and later fell out of the league. Oxford are another that were in the old First division in the 1980s but since then had a spell in the Conference.

Two pretty even play off finals both decided by spot kicks in which the victors converted all very smartly & well practised no doubt, no clangers by the officials & only five yellows over 4 hours of tense football shows how good spirited the clubs involved have behaved.
So we move to Monday, we know its not going to be like the the other two games, expect to see plenty of cards (possibly both colours) & a lot of testosterone on & off the pitch (esp the 44k Wendy Wankers). In the 2008 all Yorkshire final Donny Rovers were outnumbered 2 to 1 in the stands but the whole of Huddersfield backed them in the bars (esp Vulcan), on the pitch they won 1-0 with you know who crying on the tele (again).......The Terriers backing the Tykes to complete a season hat trick over the tame Owls, a clean kill & Massive halfway up the M1 by 5pm hopefully.
