They will still have the media onside it seems as big clubs . Here’s a solution. Create franchise football, pull up the drawbridge and go off and play in your plastic league, knowing there’s never a threat of relegation, but you’ll always be one of the whipping boys as the bigger clubs in the franchise flex their muscles… From other stuff from HW that has been posted on here, he doesn’t seem too bad, but this statement could apply to any club in any division when it comes to breaking the rules for the competition you’re in. No excuses, they know the rules, fine ‘em accordingly. This 100%. If you're going to go down that route then the supporters of clubs who've stuck to the rules need compensating as it's inhumane to stick to the rules when others don't. What a ridiculous thing for HW to state.

The even better news is that if the independent panel recommends punishment, this is to be applied within 12 weeks, so any points deduction may take effect this season.
Note: the 115 charges relating to Citeh were issued before the new ruling came into place.

I always thought Henry Winter had more intelligence than to suggest this only affects the two clubs involved. How about the majority of others who follow the rules. The rules were introduced in an attempt to tackle a problem which has afflicted the Football League since it was established in 1882 (I think!) Whilst they may be ham fisted you’ve got to start somewhere. For what it’s worth I don’t think punishments are sufficient deterrent. In the past clubs would be automatically relegated or even expelled from the League for financial irregularities. I also think owners should be stripped of Fit & Proper status without compensation if they break the rules. That would help avoid situations like Reading, Wigan and Derby have faced. There really is no place for mitigation by employing some smart arsed lawyer. If you’ve broken the rules and not alerted the League in advance of your difficulties you’re also being deceitful. For most of us in our jobs that would result in dismissal. Exactly, hates me to say it but Leeds as well as Leicester stuck to the rules. They should have stayed up last season and Notts Forest and Everton down.

The simple fact is that Citeh can afford better/more expensive lawyers than the PL can, so yes they'll get away with it even though Blind Pugh could see that they've massively overspent. When they win as fourth title they'll rewrite history but dishonestly.

I hear they paid a certain P Ridsdale about £5m on a consultancy deal to negotiate their contracts… 😂

Would love nothing more than for them to get penalised heavily and get relegated.
There's no way they'd be able to shift their huge squad in the following windows to avoid more penalties.
Would love to see them drop back down the leagues that they did not too long ago.
We got shafted in the playoff final and it bothers me that they don't recognise that.
Fed up of hearing forest fans talk abot how they deserved to go up.
We finished higher in the division, won more games over the 46 games and did it all on a shoestring budget comparatively.

Yes a big points deduction and relegation would be well earned. It's no surprise is it when you remember the way they were chucking money around after promotion. The rules are there exactly to stop teams like forest doing just that. Couldn't happen to a better set of fans either, looking forward to it!

Ivan Toney captains Brentford in his comeback game this weekend.
You wouldn’t have put money on that one.
Or maybe Toffolo did?

Fwiw. Kieran Maguire (the football finance bloke) reckons while Forest may have a bit of a case regarding the delayed sale of Brennan Johnson, the fact Forest we’re still playing him at the start of the season weakens it in his opinion. Although, this will be argued in a court and not on a spreadsheet so Kieran admits the lawyers could well make a good case.

The Everton defence/position is bonkers. At one point, they tried to claim £10m off their liabilities for hypothetically not suing "Player X" for breach of contract, having suspended him after he got arrested on child sex offences. I'm starting to lose what little sympathy I had for them. The Trees? Hope they go bust.

The year end is June, he was sold in the following September and played in the meantime. So if he was sold yesterday their argument would still stack up?

I remember chatting in a pub after the Sheff Utd game at Wembley with some of their fans. They were good decent football fans, I was gutted for them even though we won.
Not so after the Forest game.
Arriving back at my hotel after the game (I was staying in London for work)..the three "middle aged" forest fans I met were Obnoxious, arrogant, smug and just aggressive. Just horrible people. For once I didn't bite and went to bed. Karma if they get points deducted and get relegated....come on VAR more decisions against them please...

John Moss on VAR to deny them 2 pens when they lose 1-0 through an own goal on the final day of the season when they need a draw

Their fans are despicable on the whole, in my experience. Worst of luck to them.
