Eyup all, Just three months ago, the prospect of strolling through a supermarket was an unbearable ordeal due to the excruciating pain in my deteriorated arthritic ankle. However, thanks to the marvels of medical science, specifically a steroid injection, I now find myself able to move about with relatively little discomfort. With this newfound lease on life, what better way to make the most of it than by contributing to a charitable cause? With that goal in mind, I've enthusiastically registered for the Miles for Marcus walk, opting for the more challenging 18-mile route. I would immensely appreciate it if you could spare a few pounds to support Marcus and his family during this fundraising endeavour. Your generosity would undoubtedly mean the world to them. Wish me and my manky ankle the best of luck, we may need it! www.justgiving.com/page/mike-1694551433949Cheers

You seem to be one of the lucky ones who steroid injections work for. Most people seem to see little prolonged relief from them

I have a few anonymous donations which I know are not from friends. If it’s someone from DATM, thank you.

Good luck mate. I’m doing the 18 mile walk too. Fundraising going pretty well 👍 Good luck to you, too. I haven't walked this sort of distance since I was a wee nipper, so I'm not sure how I will get on. I've done a bit of training, and thankfully the legs and feet are holding up. I've raised £276 so far, I was hoping for more but times are tough so I understand. If you see me, grab a word.

They chose to remain anonymous, I respect that. Every bit will help their cause mosher, so don’t go breaking the bank. Thanks I’m advance.

Really looking forward to this. Despite being from Cleckheaton, I only really come into Huddersfield from that side of town to go to matches and come straight back, so I don’t really know much around Huddersfield - I don’t think I’ve even ever been up to Castle Hill!
Pleased to say I’m over the first panic of reaching £100 in donations. If anyone is struggling to meet that minimum target, give us a shout and I’ll do my best to help you meet it.

It’s a fair old climb to get to the top so make sure you’ve got a few Mars Bars to keep you going. Good luck, sir.

Yes, it’s a bit of a climb up to Castle Hill and will certainly be a challenge to do 18 miles. My fundraising going far better than I expected, people have been very generous. Anybody reading this who still want to contribute to this very worthy cause can do so via ‘Crazy Diamond’s’ Just Giving link up to 7th November. Look forward to meeting some fellow DATM’ers. Is anyone else on here doing the walk on Saturday, just out of interest?

Just donated. Didn't know the walk was going via Castle Hill - spent many many hours of my youth up there. Good luck - it's a long long time since I've walked up there but I always remember it as hard work!

This event has crept up on me after a busy month at work. Good luck to everyone taking part and for anyone with a few spare pennies my justgiving page link is below. I only set it up tonight so any last minute donations are welcome. I have done the last few walks the club have arranged (Sinnott 25, Wilson Walk, Worthington Walk) and the club/foundation deserve huge kudos for how well the events are run. I was lucky enough to meet and have a chat with Marcus when he did an "Evening with" a few years ago. What a lovely guy. Unfortunately it was my daughters Christening the next day and the hungover state I was in is still talked about by my inlaws at every opportunity and the wife still hasn't forgiven me, but it was a great do. Marcus was in superb form and was an absolute gent. It will be an honour to complete the walk in his name. www.justgiving.com/page/james-macbeth-1695922067747?newPage=true

We'll catch up on Saturday. John, whoever you are, thank you very much for another £50. And another Anonymous person for £20. The generosity of some people is extremely humbling considering you have no idea who I am. The Darby Rimmer Foundation, and I'm sure Marcus, will be overjoyed. Thank you again. Mike

I'm still getting the 'Application Error' when I click your link, Mike.
Does anyone know is this anything to do with my phone settings?

Donated mate, sorry it's not more. Bless you, Phil. Thank you. I’ve nearly reached my target so if anyone else is thinking about a donation you could help out some others that are short of theirs. I’m touched by all of your generosity, thank you again. I’ll try to get some photos of us all on the route.
