Today I should be looking forward to the game. Living in the north east and working away constantly means I haven’t been since the play off final. Even that was actually a home game I was working in London. Yesterday I was trying to think of excuses not go. It will be sad to look round an empty stadium and watch a team so devoid of ideas and confidence. Are the pies still awful ? Dunc, we had a pie in the ground for the first time in years a few weeks ago, I was genuinely surprised how nice it was.

Right on both Martin. That 6-3 goals bonanza was indeed on NYD 1983. The Sheff U game was a cracker, over 30k there with Steve Smith scoring both goals in a 2-1 win. Personally I thought the game v Hull City on 27 Dec 1967 was even better, even though only 1-0 with over 32k there. Town had lost at Hull the day before. Was at both of those Hull games, great atmosphere and the players didn't seem fussed at games so close together. I always liked how the train stopped right outside Boothferry so the excitement kicked in straight away. If we weren't packed in like sardines it might have been similar on the train out of Brighton to the Amex. Only ever got to Boothferry Park once and that was years later, about ‘85 without checking. That home game against Hull was superb. Their goalkeeper McKechnie pulled off save after save and they were a very attack-minded side with Wagstaff, Houghton and Knighton, great to watch. The ground was so packed my dad and I had to watch from the little wedge between the cowshed and the East Terrace. I can remember it as if it was yesterday.

But the 10,000 or so who stopped going weren’t. Crowds in 5 figures were thin on the ground from 1972 for the rest of the decade, 16 for league matches and only 5 in the period 1973-74 to 1978-79 inclusive and we needed away fans in 4 of those 5 to get there, maybe all 5 if Cambridge brought 1,800 in their promotion season. Even in 1979-80, we had only one 5-figure attendance in the first 17 games and then all 6 of the final 6. I think it's fair to say that we had a maximum of 16,000 home supporters at Leeds Road from relegation in 1971-72 right up to the last match in 1994 and we managed that only a few times, including the Youth team. The new Stadium transformed attendances, of course. The Torquay game on the Monday evening was sandwiched between two other home games, against Portsmouth on the Saturday and promoted Barnsley on the Wednesday. The attendances went from 2,800 to 1,600 to 9,300, although we were almost certainly outnumbered by two to one at the last one. The lowest home crowd of the season followed two days later by the highest. The next highest home crowd was Bradford at 6,600. I saw all three of those games and then the last two games of the season, at Hartlepool and York (we finished 9th) and then 41 out of 46 in the next, fairly good, season.

Whilst I always want us to win and will be hoping we somehow claim 3 points today, there’s another part of me that thinks if we succumb to defeat it will make it more likely that we see a change in manager. Bit of a shit way to look at it and I hate the fact I’m considering a loss not too bad a result. Sad state of affairs.

Sat here in the Lord Wilson. No other Town fans but filling up with Blackburn supporters. We could have expected 20,000 for this game yet will be lucky to get 13,000 due to our shocking pedigree of late. Good ole Yanks destroying the club with boring efficiency.

I have to say there is no part of me that would be happy to loose today in the hope DM gets sacked. I assume if we loose today you would be happy for us to continue losing until DM is sacked!

Safe to say no fan ever wants us to lose a game.
Bigger picture sometimes is that gut feel - will we earn more points with DM in charge or would we have a better chance without him?
We will never know but when you couple the lack of points earned together with the brand of football we play it is understandable why the majority want a change.
A Roses Derby at home on Boxing Day and I get the feeling we’ll be hearing “they’re here, they’re there, they’re every f’n where, empty seats, empty seats” at some stage today!

3 points would be big today in a lot of ways.
Remove a tiny bit of gloom. Lift us up the table a touch. Give the team/fans/manager a bit of confidence. However, Blackburn are well organised and - whilst not playing as fluid as they did last season - they are a real threat and I think if we set up too defensively we'll be on the end of a thrashing.
Boro and Leicester to follow in quick succession. 4 points is probably the realistic maximum we'll take from these 3 games, before 12 days break, with hopefully immediate fit and straight into the first team signings to give all huge encouragement for the second half of the season.

I have to say there is no part of me that would be happy to loose today in the hope DM gets sacked. I assume if we loose today you would be happy for us to continue losing until DM is sacked! Like I clearly stated, I want us to win (every game). But IF we were to lose (I can’t influence the result so what happens will happen regardless) then I probably won’t be as down about it as I usually would. In the knowledge that a poor result might spell the end for a manager I don’t think is good enough. He’s not a manager who is ever going to get extra from a squad imo. We are never going to have a big budget in comparison to other teams at this level, so finding someone who can galvanise the club and the squad is essential for us to be successful.

I clearly stated I want us to win. I also said IF we were to lose there’s a potential upside to it. That in no way is me saying I want us to lose. I’d like nothing more than to win and pull a little further away from the bottom 3.

This talk about losing to get Moore sacked, it's utter bollocks, it's clear he isn't going to get the sack FFS.

Perhaps we play with enough attacking intent to win the game first? Lets not kid ourselves that this deep defending very quickly and for far too long is working. Lets pose a threat of kinds for longer in a game, lets not have opposition holding midfielders and centre halves playing the ball 25 yards from our goal.?

Where's the grim weather gone? I'm going to after bloody go now. Well at least make it in to Town. Weather is absolutely stunning here today as well ! Stunning clear views out the window in Connel here over a tidal flowing Loch Etive and Ben Lora beyond 😊 - How The Hell can two days be so bloody well different and poles apart indeed... Going a wee jaunt shortly to Inveraray with the niece to ‘hand her over’ to her daddy (She is 21 but her motor is in Glasgow as she blagged a hitch with ma sister up here - which probably allowed her a wee bevvy on the way) ! So some stunning scenery along the way and back for Sky soccer Saturday and The HTAFC ‘progress’ (I hope) !!! PREDICTION = Huddersfield (Drawdersield) Town 1 v Blackburn Rovers 1

It's not just the lack of points, it's the lack of excitement that's making me apathetic at the moment. I genuinely aren't bothered for going although I'll be there. Recently its the feeling of I could have been doing something better with my time. I get the ups and downs but to me nothing seems to be improving. DM seems to talk a lot of nothing, just pure lip service but hasn't a clue what to do to get out of this rut. Granted he has a squad that's lacking both in terms of quality and depth but he just doesn't seem able whether its tactics or motivation to get the best out of the squad. I think we will lose today and like previous posters have said how long does this have to go on. Obviously I'd be delighted to be proved wrong but as soon as we let a goal in I'm sure this will turn pretty nasty today. Here's hoping for 3 points UTT

Love us to win today obviously... but If we lose I'd almost prefer us to get demolished so we can put an end to Darren..
Won't be watching anyway. Can't even be bothered tuning in on the firestick until Darren has been given his marching orders.
From a totally selfish point of view, I love following town, so a demolition would be curtains for Darren and I could go on Friday and new years day. But 3 points would be massive if Kev isn't going to act.
