It’ll be a first Boxing Day game for me in a good while. I doubt we’ll be served a 6-3 vs Bradford C goalfest though… Wasn’t that New Year’s Day?(best Boxing Day - v Sheffield United in 69)

That 6-3 goals bonanza was indeed on NYD 1983. The Sheff U game was a cracker, over 30k there with Steve Smith scoring both goals in a 2-1 win. Personally I thought the game v Hull City on 27 Dec 1967 was even better, even though only 1-0 with over 32k there. Town had lost at Hull the day before.

There were 1680 at the Torquay home match. You said especially the away fans, not only the away fans, indicating all were tolerant. Well 1600 were.very. I was there too but rather than tolerant my recollection of the fans around that time would be better described as apathetic. I fear that we're in danger of treading a similar path once again if we don't buck our ideas up.

Yeah, I wondered if it was NY day after I’d posted it, and the 4 goal performance from Brian S. Great day, although we were all a fair deal younger than we are now… 😉

Remember beating Chesterfield 1-0 under Lee Clarke back on boxing day in 2011? That game was as dull as per current home games! I have also decided to stay at home tomorrow and bath the wife instead.

I won’t be attending tomoro First Boxing Day I’ve missed in 15 years. I’ve. Completely had enough I've been a supporter 40+ years.. First boxing day game I've missed, will be the first Christmas week game i miss and the first new years day game.. I watched every single game under Fotheringham and although it was grim.there always seemed a shred of hope, that's all gone now and some. If 50 supporters staged a protest in the centre circle, I'd run on and join in. Enough is enough. Moore needs to go.

It was crispy, cold and clear in The Whisky Isle (And all the distilleries were on short time - and three completely closed - due to ridiculous Tory taxation duty)... Me and ma mate Jamie we’re out playing ‘headers’ in the morning then it was in for the football results between Grandstand and World of Sport, my wee maw was on shift in the hospital and ma wee gran (God rest her) was looking after me and my wee sister that afternoon after hosting a party the night before on Hogmanay. I remember being excited as the goals flashed up on ‘Football Latest’ and ‘Latest Score’ and being delighted at the ‘big win’ for Huddy Town ! 😊 👍 Then we went out looking to see if anyone coming outta the old Abbotsford Hotel would give us a wee swig of beer or whisky... 🍺 🥃 I remember and old boozer pensioner called Hughie staggering home and giving us the best part of a can of Youngers Tartan Special (I think it was heavy or ale) and him being happy because Celtic had beaten Rangers 2-1 at Ibrox ! We shared it between us under the old bridge... I was only 12 and a half and Jamie was only 14 - Crazy but happy Huddersfield Town memories indeed !!! ⚽️

That 6 3 was one of the best games I've ever been to. I think Bradfor and genuine lower league legend Ces Podd opened the scoring for City. Great day and fabulous entertainment on and off the pitch. Can you imagine ever turning up and seeing entertainment like that nowadays? I mean its the same game. Best we can hope for is a miserable 0 0 draw. Its utter utter shite .

If we get the three points, it sure as hell won’t be spellbinding.. It probably won’t be spellbounding as you say pinstripe but I’ll take three points any way and any how... If a Blackburn Rovers player has a pure huge hard-on admiring one of the many beautiful Town Terrieresse’s behind the goal at a corner kick in the 90+6 of 90+7 minutes and the ball deflectes into The Blackburn net of his Cock then that’ll do for me and we’ll all be Cock a Hoop ! Ah Fcuk - That Jura Malt Bourbon Cask Bottle is startin to take effect now ah guess ! 🥃 🥃 🥃

Today I should be looking forward to the game. Living in the north east and working away constantly means I haven’t been since the play off final. Even that was actually a home game I was working in London.
Yesterday I was trying to think of excuses not go.
It will be sad to look round an empty stadium and watch a team so devoid of ideas and confidence.
Are the pies still awful ?

Love a Boxing Day game. Drawing at Crewe, beating Grimsby, winning at Darlington, beating Forest, losing at Man United. We’ve been there and seen it all. Players and managers come and go. Each to their own if you go or not, it’s never really mattered how many go to games, it’s about being there. Wouldn’t be a Boxing Day without a game. UTT.

What's that you say? You're on a ropey run? Not won for a few games? Not scored for a couple of matches? Well, what you need to do is play Huddersfield Town, especially now that Darren "Mr Energy" Moore is in charge. Fill your boots, Blackburn; everyone else does. Five of your last seven opponents have failed to beat you. That's down to their bad finishing.

Good job some of these supporters weren’t supporting in the 70s when we slumped into the 4 th division, those were dark days . And some of us were. But 75% of the last 50 years supporting them while they've been shite takes it's toll. Especially when the last few years have been self inflicted.

Given inflation and the rising costs I don't understand how fans can begrudge the club raising prices. The club has increased costs as do the rest of us. As long as they understand that increased costs, for us, in general means cutting back on things, a season ticket could well be a luxury that would have to go.

We have a “hard core” of supporters though. No matter what’s happening I reckon there at least 20 people I sit near to, who are there at every game. Been like this for at least 20 years. Weird, but despite the problems, I haven’t even considered not going tomorrow. Not going to football on Boxing Day would be very weird - would be like not having turkey on Xmas Day. Very weird Depends if you hate turkey 🤢🤢🤢

Was at both of those Hull games, great atmosphere and the players didn't seem fussed at games so close together. I always liked how the train stopped right outside Boothferry so the excitement kicked in straight away. If we weren't packed in like sardines it might have been similar on the train out of Brighton to the Amex.

First Boxing Day game in a long time where I’m purely going to break up a series of family social events , rather than to watch the football .
I’d love to think we’ll be surprised with the set up and result but I just can’t see it .
Moore will either think “fuck you” to the fans and deliberately go too attacking , leading to a 4-0 pasting … or set up ultra defensive and play for a point.
Ideally , the team for today should be
Maxwell
Thomas Lees Helik Nakayama Headley
Hogg Rudoni Kasumu
Burgzorg Koroma
We should get at a fragile Blackburn team from the off , knowing they concede for fun and are on a bad run . We’ve six attacking players in that line up , most of which have pace , and whilst Blackburn like to dominate the ball if we press correctly we’ll have a lot of fun .

And is the only thing that satisfies the hunger caused by a pre game beverage session.. I probably wouldn’t eat one sober tho.. 😜😜 🍻🍻

Tickets for panto sold out at LB theatre today but plenty on sale for the one at JSS, big question is will another dismal & heavy defeat see DM sacked?.....Oh yes it will, oh no it won't.. etc etc.
Yorkshireman & regular PL ref Darren England takes the whistle.....Hopefully won't be the villain of the piece.

Does anyone know what happened to the team that played the 1st half against Ipswich? That was really good and we should have been out of sight of a team flying this season.
There was no sign of the negativity that would emerge from the tunnel in the second half and for the rest of the season.

Totally agree, there seemed to a be a togetherness with the fans, especially the ones who went away, some top away days in the 70/80s, the fans seemed far more tolerant of what we had, imo. So tolerant that on 29 April 1978 only 1638 fans turned up for the home league match v Bournemouth. Its almost like he talks a massive pile if shite. Towns crowds plummeted quicker than the club in the 70s.
