Very sad news. He had just left Town when I started watching them, but I remember him playing against Town for York and Rochdale. I know he was part of Town's promotion team of the late 60's. RIP 😞

So sad to hear ....he was some talent that's for sure. I remember Frank Worthington saying how talented he was but how frustrating he was to play with. He'd beat the full back then Frank would make his run to either near post or back only for Bobby to not put cross in and beat full back again just because he could!!! Then beat him again !!! I remember my late Dad getting so angry about this too but as a young lad I just marvelled at his unbelievable skill. I think but could be wrong he got injured around Christmas in 69/70 with Steve Smith taking over that right wing role and Krzywicki supplementing this position towards end of season. Steve Smith did so well and took the shirt starting 70/71 in top form and while I remember Bobby's great performances at Burnley and Old Trafford I seem to remember he was a little inconsistent or maybe got injured again--- I can't remember it's such a long time ago. I loved watching Bobby play and I particularly remember the Preston and Villa home games early in 69/70 season when he was on fire and I recall thinking this could be our year. RIP Bobby and thank you for the amazing memories

Wasn't Bobby the shortest player in the whole league at the time. Roll model for us shorties......!!!....Or am I getting confused.....? RIP. Brilliant days watching Town mid 60s early 70s, Joe Harper is another player that comes to mind that was small, we used to call him wee Joe Harper.

R.I.P. Bobby Hoy, fondly remembered, one of the greats of 69-70. It's amazing how we all remember the song, nicked of course from The Equals Viva Bobby Joe. Mind it's a pretty upbeat and catchy tune.
For us oldies, the very best time to be a Town fan. It was a rare season in the 60s when we weren't challenging for promotion, at least until Easter. I could still name all that 69-70 team, and I've never seen a better player, maybe not just for Town than Frank Worthington. ( Don't bother with the lsit of better ones, I'm biased and a Town fan)
Anyway off topic, so once again, thanks for the memories Bobby Hoy.

What a shame to read this so very early in 2024, (it would be at any time) but such is life and sadly Bobby won’t be the only ex Town player in 2024 sadly...
Before ma time as a HTAFC supporter but he did have good success with Town as well and it looks like he had the very best of his football career at Huddersfield Town before it seemed to Peter out in the last few years -
I don’t know if so many Terrieresse’s went to The Cowshed or The Popular Terrace during Bobby’s tenure as a Town Football player but if they did I’m sure they could’ve sang The Buddy Hollie legendary song and changed the lyrics to ‘Oh Hoy’ !
As always when one of our own passes, deepest sympathy to his loved ones, and friends and close friends from Scotland... 💔 🏴 💔
RIP to you Bobby and Thank You for your very valuable contribution to Huddersfield Town AFC !

Probably a better version on there but this popped up first: Some fine goals and play there on a crisp late autumn day at Turf Moor ! Great atsmophere that Bobby clearly revels in... Jeez - I wouldn’t quite be five months old back then - The eulogies across the Two pages are simply beautiful and on that video clip showing I can see that they’ve been well earned...

I can't add that much to what has already been said, except to say that I loved to watch him play and that is the greatest compliment that I can give to a footballer. I also saw him on stage (probably 80s), at a local club, performing country/folk songs. If I recall correctly he played an acoustic guitar and had a taped backing track. The always entertaining Bobby Hoy, RIP

Another one sadly gone from the best team in my time of watching Town, He was fine example of the old fashioned goal scoring winger who could excite and frustrate you at the same time. He was involved in the finest save I saw at the old ground . December 1970 I was in the Cowshed against Liverpool, Hoy hit this dipping volley from the edge of the box, I am up, both hands in the air celebrating, when Clements appeared from nowhere ,stretched full length and tipped it around the post. Great days
VIVA Bobby Hoy

Great days VIVA Bobby Hoy I remember that volley and save from Clemence. I was stood in the open end and from there it looked like Clemence was almost parallel with the crossbar when he made that save.
