I'm going to be speaking to former Town player, Les Chapman soon. He played for the club between 1969 and 1974. He was also the youth coach briefly in 1997.
Does anyone have any memories of him? Or anything they want to ask him?

I remember him very well for many reasons. He was probably the nearest player to what I was myself, although I never “made it”. He was left-footed, could dribble, cross the ball and had a good shot on him, just like myself.
I once took a photo of him, cut out from “Goal” magazine, to the hairdressers and said I wanted the same hairstyle!
Ask him which was his favourite goal for Town. Two that stick in my memory was one against Arsenal when he volleyed into the top corner, and the other was the final goal in a 3-0 win against Fulham in the FA Cup when he ran from deep and hit a screamer from about 25 yards out at the Cowshed end.

Is he still involved with the media side of things at Man City? Great bloke, very amusing. He came to watch me play football in France once and had a good chat.*
*Not completely true! He was covering a Champions League game in Monaco and was staying with an ex-City player who played 5-a-side with us.

Pretty sure he is retired now but something of a legend at City in his kit man role.

Yeah, he was the kitman, but he was so popular and such a character they’d moved him into working for City TV or whatever they called it.

Just watched the goal on YouTube as I didn't quite remember it being a volley. It is a cracking strike ( but not quite a volley) and I was a very happy bunny in the Kilner Bank when it went in.

Ask him about my autograph book. Me and plenty f other kids from Kirkheaton went once to his house/digs to get his autograph. He was in and I clearly remember Geoff Hutt being there too. It was over the summer of 1970 just before that first season in the First Division. In the end the brutal looking landlady shoes us all away but not before she collected up all the books for them to be signed. The idea was they would be signed by all the players and we would get them back.
I am still waiting…
By the way they would be worth a pretty penny now💷
