Chance of a pre season tour of Germany/Austria/Switzerland now? Hope so...was heading over there this summer anyway! Might give me more of a focus now!

I know justaguy will have read this thread but I hope KN reads it too. Nothing is ever certain in life and football but, at long last, I have a sense of anticipation and excitement with Town again. The immediate priority is to secure safety for another season. Achieve that and I genuinely think that the incredible togetherness, excitement and success we had under DW in 2016-2018 can be repeated. Then, KN will really understand what makes this club so special and so important to us all. I ordered my ticket for Watford yesterday morning not knowing it would be AB’s first game, but my anticipation in looking forward to next weekend was already high because of what JW had achieved, now it’s even higher. Yep. And as the good and the bad I keep him informed every day. He’s not effing around, and it’s really great to see some of the reactions attesting to that. Trust is built in time. Mistakes are always going to be made. But when I say he’s obsessed (along with Jake/Mark/everyone) with getting back to the PL, I mean it. Nothing is guaranteed. But I can honestly tell you the days of being the tiny little hamlet of Davids facing Goliaths is over, at least when it comes to club mentality in the boardroom. It’s “screw everyone else, let’s get it together and kick some asses”. That’s the INTENT. Win win win at all costs. And they will. Only question is how long will it take and what’s the path. Me personally, after seeing this squad get healthier and playing with freedom? If we actually get healthy, and Della and Helik are sharing the pitch with Sorba and the rest of the lads? Could be something to see. LFG UTFF Thats great to hear mate, it genuinely is. Love that kind of fighting talk! However its kick ARSES in Huddersfield. Kicking an ass will get you in trouble with the RSPCA.

I think you mean: Fick Mich Starr Scheisse means shit Even though if you put Scheisse Mich Starr in GoogleTranslate it comes up with Fuck Me Rigid, it's wrong. Isn't it a bit like French, where swearing is often more about sentiment than the direct literal meaning? For example merde means shit, but "emmerdè" is the equivalent of saying "f**k off". Fun fact, that's one reason the Toyota MR2 didn't sell too well in French-speaking markets!

Usually when there was a possible dual use it was Verdammt, which I've heard used for fucking, bastard and wanker over those years. It could also be "locally different" too, with different regions using different dialects/words for the same thing. All our postings in Germany were between Dusseldorf and Bremen so perhaps southerners use that vernacular?

Maybe- it's a long time since A-level German so I've forgotten most, especially the swearing bits. If you're a (cunning) linguist, cursing is quite an interesting area with many regional variations and terms that don't make sense literally. For example Welsh doesn't really have any "swear words" as such so speakers have to get creative... the equivalent of "f*** off" literally translates as "go and scratch". Anyway, hopefully we won't have to learn how to swear in loads of different German dialects!

Also when we get to the Premier league again we could be the team of choice on the West Coast..lots of Town shirts sold and I'm sure a lot of American multi nationals will be wanting to get involved with sponsorship deals/advertising ...as opposed to Arsenal? Who?

If a forward misses an open goal here (in Germany), you'd probably hear "Scheiße!!" ("Fuck!!") or "Scheiße Mensch" ("For fuck's sake") if something goes wrong in some way. Have to laugh sometimes about how things can get mixed up if you translate directly between expressions - I know an English lass in Passau, who's been in Germany so long that she even translates German expressions into English (for "Scheiß drauf", which is like saying "fuck it!" she'll say "shit on it", which is where I have to intervene and tell her we don't say that in English, and only a German-speaking English person would know what she was on about. But she doesn't give a shit

And scheisse mensch they told me meant "shit, man" type of thing. Language also changes over time too so maybe it's evolved to mean what you've heard, bearing in mind we left Germany in 93 and I've not been back. Spoken to a few of my old German friends there but that's usually been in English. I've honestly never heard sheisse to mean owt other than shit, in any situation. Edit: either language has changed or it's a local dialect thing coz I've never heard the phrase scheiss drauf either

Whatever song get’s adopted for him, my expectations have now escalated to Taylor Swift to be singing it from the centre circle pre- match and for Diana Ross to resurrect dizzy penalties at half time 😊

Been thinking about this one for the last 24 hours or so.
Firstly what an utterly bizzare choice Moore was. There's absolutely no logic behind it at all to go from him to a top tier European coach. Why on earth was he picked in the first place if this is the level of ambition we're going to show.
Secondly, does Andrea have the best CV of any manager we've ever appointed? I can't think of anyone better.

I can't think of anyone better. On the second point…certainly think has in my lifetime…touchdown in my 40’s next month. But with that in mind my memory maybe starting to dwindle. I think someone mentioned previously and it does make sense that could be the case. That we basically used some sort of data driven model when picking Moore. I know you may think well how would that point to him.But is suppose if we were told of his attacking football, supposedly they actually believed that.Sheff Wednesday off memory did score quite a lot of goals in league 1.If it’s along those lines it’s short sighted just using the data, because yes they maybe scored a fair amount of goals but they had what was largely believed to be one of if not the best squad in the division. They were up there for promotion..won a lot of games so naturally they will have scored a fair amount of goals. What maybe data(or data we used) doesn’t take into account is the quality of the squad, the division they’re in,and the style of play and how they scored those goals. This is all me just guessing based off what someone said but it could be how we ended up with Moore.Team that with the nice guy thing so no one will have a bad word to say about him and hey presto. The new guy does have the cv but more importantly for me his style of play at previous clubs very much fits with how our current squad seem to perform at their best. You can add data in and around that and get a much better pick.let’s hope we have!!
