£128 million signing on fee and £13 million a year, fine if you can get the work!!. Iam sure most on here will agree what a joke the modern game has become.

Just think how many clubs in the lower leagues could keep going without worry with a fraction of that. It really is a joke, but unless something is done in regards to Sky, sponsorship etc, it will only get worse. Unfortunately, the game of football itself doesn't matter anymore to those at the top.

They’ll never know the joy of Danny Schofield tapping in a rebound in front of a packed terrace at Bootham Crescent. I feel sorry for them.

I don't blame the player at all, he gets what he can like anybody would. He's played for the biggest club in his own country and then the most famous club of all time, all the while getting paid the most ridiculous money. He could have also gone to Saudi and been paid even more but turned it down which would have been a complete waste of his talent so it could have been worse. He does also donates a fair bit to charity and while it's easy to do for him considering what he earns he doesn't have to, he even donated £26k to search for Emiliano Sala's plane.
The owners are to blame, if they stopped paying the money then the players couldn't earn it, ticket prices could be cheaper, meaning kids would be much more likely to watch games not just on the telly and could have the experiences many of us have had growing up. It's a shame but the game at the top level especially, is gone to the "normal" fan.

If only people could come to this conclusion in day to day life. Wealth inequality is a massive problem, surely they can’t distract us with small boats and whether a woman can have a penis for much longer.

I just wonder where the game will be in 10 years time,:it cant surely keep propelling in the direction it is indefinitely surely?.

PSG... how were they paying Messi, Neymar, Mbappe etc without breaching ffp.
City and United struggling with ffp but PSG were OK paying Mbappe £171m a year plus Messi signing on fee and wages. With limited tv income.
The only question is does the sales or merchandising fund these players.

Anyone else getting fed up hearing about this guy? He’s got a hardworking agent I’ll give him that. Still don’t think he’s worth anywhere near as much as the money banded about for him.

Don't begrudge him one little bit. As a season ticket holder and sky sports subscriberthen I am part of the problem.
Someone is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
If I didn't agree with it I'd suggest I 1/ Stop paying for sky sports 2/ Step away from football as a paying fan. 3/ Stop buying replica shirts
If you do any of the above you are part of "the problem"

(which I have, but for a variety of reasons, and which I’ll also ditch later this year) Buying season tickets has been around far longer than Sky (& their ilk) started to industrially pump money into the game. Replica kit is just a consumer driven nonsense, but it’s nothing to do with the real cause of this, subscription TV and global betting companies. Might not be in what’s left of my lifetime, but unless things change I can see a global SL never mind the ESL thing. FFP will be phased out and we’ll just get wealthy owners having a pissing contest against other stupidly wealthy individuals. I look at the M East competitions and how much they pay these players to play in what looks like to me, something on a par with National League level at best. It’s been eating itself for yrs, but once it has the subscribers and betting revenue taped up, there’s not much to stop them doing what they want. Supporters from generational sources will become few & far between.

To be fair his hardworking agent has always been his mum. (At the moment anyway although this has to change for a few months because of some new fifa rule). Nobody is worth that much or should earn that much though.

Is it ok for them to do so but not a sportsperson?

Absolutely nothing to do with Sky. So you're saying the staggering millions they pay each year hasn't affected the game? No, but in the case of RM, their income is not vi Sky. Are you saying footballers should lag behind NBA, NFL, F1 etc earning power?

Do people on music forums complain at the money pop stars make?
Do people on film forums complain how much movie stars make?
The money is there, the performers deserve the money the public/fans/sponsors bring to any industry.
I don't see what the problem is.
