The path over the canal via Red Doles Road, Fartown was closed for the Hull match.
Does anybody know if it is now open or if it will be for Saturday?

Glad you've asked this as I was going to ask if anyone knew if it was open or not. I'd rather avoid the quick march that we had for the Hull game, only just getting in in time for kick off.

You mean the little bridge is closed, loads of people use that route maybe the council would know or the canal and river trust.

I don't think the canal bridge itself was shut - we couldn't get under the railway bridge on Red Doles Road to get down to the bridge. It seemed to be work on the railway bridge that was the problem

If it is shut due to Network rail, don't they have to provide an alternative route if it is a public right of way

The were lowering a 2nd deck on to the bridge, it was a bit annoying as they didn't really give any prior warning. Me and my grandson go down and back that way and we had to walk all the way down Alder Street and round.
The good news is that the work is complete so it should be open.

What you mean is that you didn't know. There has been plenty of prior warning. Works notices have been advertised and posted as required.

The restrictions due to the work haven't been as well publicised as they could have been. Plenty of information about road closures and about changes to rail services, but not much about the situation for pedestrians at locations such as Red Doles. It's not even clear whose responsibility it is, is it Network Rail? Or is it Kirklees Council? If the latter, good luck with that š Works notices, much like planning notices, are often vague and poorly worded, and not all that visible. The words "as required" are doing a lot of heavy lifting.

I know, I have been following the thread on RF as well, although not before the Hull game, which someone did post about it, which I missed. To be honest though, unless I missed them, there was no notices posted on Red Doles Lane.

It was open on Tuesday when I crossed over. It was only closed to lower a new deck on the bridge fof ghe railway, this work is complete now so I wouldn't expect anymore closures.
