It would be inhumane to make Hogg have 2 spells under Moore He’s got a massive mural seen by thousands walking and driving past everyday. He’s our Captain. The poll disrespects all of this, especially option 1. In hindsight I shouldn't have done option 1 or 6 but I made this poll mostly out of interest to see what the general consensus was about what they think his future with the club should be

He hasn't got pelters at all. Well fire away then, and please tell us all when the level of 'pelting' is satisfactory to you. I'm not asking for any, just stating he's barely been criticised yet if that had been Kasumu for example, he'd have been absolutely hammered for deliberately elbowing someone in the face and not even challenging for the ball within 10 yards of 2 officials (3 including the 4th).

Should have been replaced as a starter and being a squad player the season we came down. The fact that Hogg has started most games in the last few seasons tells you everything you need to know about why we constantly struggle.
Just not good enough for the championship. Should be let go at the end of the season.
I know i’ll get shit for this post. But I just don’t rate him and get the hype. First to give someone shit for a bad pass or being out of position etc etc, but game after game, season after season he’s the worst passer of a ball, constantly caught in possession and slows the play down

He has another season in him at championship level. One rash decision in a Yorkshire derby should not result in calls for his head.
He’s not the Hogg of old but he has still been a consistent performer.
As we develop under Breitenwriter he would be great coming off the bench.👍🏼

No way does he get an extension based on his contribution as a footballer. We've better players in his position now, never mind next year when we should be strengthening. Giving him a playing contract uses up a valuable spot in the squad that could go to a promising younger player. If he has coaching ambitions and, more importantly, if Andre and co think he'll be an asset then maybe he takes his coaching badges with us - but those are big 'ifs' that none of us have insight into.
Just for the record, I'm not being disrespectful, I am a proper supporter and I've a lot of time for Jonathon Hogg. I just don't think he's been good enough for a while now. It's just my opinion and it's okay to think like I do.

I absolutely love him but I just don't see him being able to play another full season as a regular starter and constantly keep up a capable Championship level but is not completely finished

The man has been superb for us, his commitment to our team, through thick & thin, has been unique & very valued.
He'll know himself he is past his best & the club have done him no favours by making him play so many 90 mins, up to very recently. For the last 18 months his role should have been his off-field presence & coming off the bench for the last 20 mins to see a game out.
I can definitely see a player-coach role, if that is what he himself wants. I don't think the OP meant to be disrespectful, but Options 1 & 6 are disrespectful.

Objectively, from solely a footballing point of view you let him go. However, I'd give him two years, bit part first year then blending into coaching staff in the second.
That is if he wants to of course. I hope he continues his career somewhere in league 1 / two and is as loved as he is here. There's plenty of time for him to come back as manager if he so desires.

He’s been brilliant for us for 10 years.
If we want to progress I think he’s got to either leave in the summer or be a bit part player now.
Personally think the red was terrible decision. He’s shielded the ball. It’s a contact sport.
The chestwanking c*** going down like he’s been shot and a ref who thought the cameras had come to watch him were the problem

I have no doubt Hogg will continue to prove his doubters wrong as he has done the majority of this season. We are a better team overall with him in it. We will need experience still next season as we rebuild and for me if the choice of that experience is Hogg, Lees, Pearson or Ward then it’s Hogg everytime.

He'd make a great coach here being well loved and having plenty of the skills that make a coach. Also if Kevin Russell is only part of the first team until the end of the season than there'd be a vacancy for him in that role. However I'd still be happy enough to see him take up a bit part role if he's wanting to play

Hogg played well for Warnock and for Worthers. No one bar Helik and Sorba came out of DM with any credit. I agree there’s no time for sentiment but at the end of the day managers keep picking him. Yes there are names on the team sheet before him but there’s also plenty after.

Games when we're more likely to sit back and counter he's good for with his ball winning capabilities but when we'll have more of the ball, we're best to have someone better on the ball

In that sort of position I think Breitenreiter likes a dictator in that position in a 3-1-4-2 which would be a little but different but would probably be better when we are looking to break down a team but when we are looking to play on the counter only Matos in the current squad can compare for that destroyer role and he won't be here next season

He's past it, but we're not far into a spell of being able to function without him. Would be interested to know our record without him in the side in the last 5 years. For me he should get another season as a bench option, if he wants that.
Looking forward to his testimonial when it happens, would be ace if he gets some of the promotion side back together.

The 2016/17 side vs a side of players that have had particularly strong Hoggy specials would be good

Part of me thinks he let himself and his teammates down yesterday but another part of me enjoyed him leaving a trail of Leeds players writhing in agony. I thought he was a big part of why Leeds failed to fire, they really looked like they didn’t fancy it.

What a send off to his career if we achieve promotion next season.

He's looked over seen their lad coming and stuck an elbow in his chops haha. I saw someone else say "show me someone jump without raising their arms". His feet never leave the floor though! Debate about the contract, I can understand why some would want it extending, but the only debate on the red card is if it should have been a straight red rather than 2 yellows.

I feel the pool is in slightly poor taste for such a great servant of the club. He deserves a bit more respect. I thought the same. I was fucking livid with him yesterday but don't understand the need for this thread. It was only a few games ago I thought he was the best player on the pitch for us and I'm sure after a few games under André, a proper manager, he'll be back to his best again.

So basically the first time I thought of it when I weren't just about to fall asleep the same as an annoying amount of things

100% give him a new contract. His worth to this team is more than his playing ability. He is a very good squad player, maybe not a regular starter but we need players like him around.

He will need replacing at some point because age is not on his side. He does a good job in front of the back four and Town don't really have another player who does that exact job.
